We had Slope finals two days ago for the Dew tour. We've been very unfortunate with the weather during this whole comp, and yesterday was no exception. windy, snowy and very very very cold. I had my camera with me, but it was way to cold for me to take off my glove and take pics.

to sum of the Event:

1. Bobby Brown

2. Jossi Wells

3. Henrik Harlaut

4. Me

Now im going to say what I think about that. And it's important that you all know that I was not completely happy with my run and I didn't expect to get any better than that. So I just going to say what I mean.

Allright, there's 4 thinks you shouldn't do and should do in a slopestyle run.

You should show that you can spin both ways.

You can't have any NOGRABS.

You can't have any handdrags or backseatlandings.

and you shouldn't revert, reverting isen't the worst thing you can do but it should hurt your score a littlebit.

sooo, since Bobby did 3 out of 4, in my mind Jossi should have won by far. that's my opinion, you can dissagree as much as you want, but im gonna explain how I look at it.

First rail:

Bobby: 450, that's probably the most basic ''hard trick'' you can do on a kinkbox

Jossi: sw 630, Much harder than a 450 on 270 out.

first jump:

Bobby: sw misty 10, very nice

Jossi: cab 10, not completely perfect, but it's a very hard trick.

Second jump:

Bobby: sw double knee grab, on www.jon-olsson.com can you see that he's not even trying to grab at all. He's clearly just hucking a dub.

Jossi: sw 10 japan, a nice sw 10 japan.

Third jump:

Bobby: Kangerooooo, very nice.

Jossi: sw 9, very nice.

Last Rail:

Bobby: misty 5 out.

Jossi: 630 out.

I thought we had come to a point in skiing that we had to have an unnatural spin in a run, and I definitely thought that No grabs were completely unacceptable.

In my eyes it is unaccepteable. You shouldn't even be near the podium with a run without a unnatural spin and a nograb trick.

Jossi should have won.

Any one else agree?

i think if jossi did the exact same run bobby did, we wouldnt be having this conversation
i could be wrong but i really feel that many pros are trying hard to define themselves as better than everyone else and they are afraid that all these young kids are coming up and knocking them off their podium
thats my opinion
true bobby's run wasnt perfect but their have already been a lot of posts comparing the two so im not going to repeat that, regardless bobby's run was sick without a doubt and slightly better than jossi's imo

yeah wtf is up with these norwegians, i.e. pk and jon (jacob wester has been pretty chill to my understanding), criticizing so much and so many people? why criticize the young people who are most progressing the sport? why would jon, if its true, criticize slopestyle and park skiing?
it's ridiculous that kids who are trying to have fun, get better, and push themselves and the sport are getting criticized by their heros, the legends of the sport. its so arrogant, takes all my respect for these people away.

after seeing both runs I think that the judges liked bobbys because he had two double flips in there and a flip of the rail while jossi just did normal spins

your making it sound like a spin to win comp! u said all the tricks were better if they spin more. you for get about style.Bobby's sw misty 10 had to be the sickest sw 10 i have ever seen wit the smoothest landing ever.
jossi- his sw 10 were flat, every one and there mother can do that.
bobby- 2 doubles in 1 run! more flips and about the same amount of spins. + bobby stomped every thing. At some points jossi looked sketch.
dont get me wrong they were both amazing runs but i think bobbys run was far better in my mind.

GODDDD, all this hate on bobby is absolutely retarded...maybe he didnt grab a trick, look at the conditions that day! sorry he didnt spin rightside, maybe he just wanted 2 doubles instead of a sw right 9 er something (which he can do). All you big pros are jealous about gettin yer ass whooped by a local young kid, get over it!

jacob said in his profile thing for armada that the "wost ski trend witnessed" was what he called "the brogan ride away" aka afterbang but he just called it that because brogan is famous for his afterbanginjacob apologized on his site saying he wasnt disrespecting brogan but simply afterbang itself and his profile now reads (don't hate everyone haha): "Worst skitrend you witnessed:Tall tees outside of jacket and 'Afterbang ride-aways"READ THIS: aha he mentions newschoolers right away i thinkhttp://jacobwester.com/2008/08/13/the-afterbang-ride-away/

Couple things:

I think that the pros may be too quick to defend their own sometimes. Wouldn't you? What if you were a starting quarterback and an up-and-coming freshman showed promise. Would you say to the coach "He's better than me, put him in."? No.

I also think that MOST NSers feel that the pros are "bashing" and "hating" on the younger kids because these guys - Tom, Henrik, Bobby - grew up with NS. These guys got FAMOUS off NS. So, I feel that NS likes to defend these guys because they are products of Newschoolers.com and that most kids on this site can relate to them, simply because they log on from time to time and occasionally post.

Just my $0.02

You just have so much hate towards tanner because for some god awful reason you think he is a coward, stop hating on him for no reason and rumors.

tanner had bitched about the judging plenty of times ex: when he lost x slope

but Jon and PK are right hands down

Everyone is entitled to their opinion man, all Im saying is the hate needs to stop there is just NO need for it.

when you start giving more points for no grab tricks then it gets more like aerials, someone could throw some stupid looking triple backflip 1080 like a pencil and win probably. if people wanna pull this shit they are in the wrong sport, go to aerials and stop pretending to be a newschool skier just cause you wear baggy pants and you got twin tips doesnt mean your not doing just what aerials is all about. the only no grabs that should give you more points is if its a shifty, or just a steezy ass slower trick that looks better not grabing.

its about what looks good, not whats 'hard'. tommy wallnuts can do a sw 180 holdin his dick off a 80ft step down and i would give him a better score than a sw 10...its about what makes you go oh shit, that shit was ignant!...im tired of the spin-to-win = podium, nanadamean?

I think I probably agree with him, but I am not sure any of this shit has to be said. IN the end, the judging is the only thing that will decide a podium, whether it is right or wrong is kind of subjective.

I am sure Bobby is happy with the win, and knows he has to do better even if his run was flawless.

Just because youre euro doesn't mean you can just post this shit. Go to the judges, ask whats up, give them a valid opinion maybe? Im not sure the right avenue is to just call out guys and complain. Hopefully the judging and the level of riding gets better and HOPEFULLY more guys will be doing harder more techinical rail tricks and nicer jumps... hopefully.

it doesnt have anything to do with pk being european.. and i think thats what blogs were invented for. you express your opinion and thoughts

why is everyone saying that its becoming aerials, watch his vid, when he does it he is almost in a ball, aerials is penciled as shit so stop saying it

you sir need to stop your hate on tanner, I'm actually quite curious as to why you hate him so much. I get the feeling you're a relative noob and have not seen the impact he has had on the people involved in the sport as well as the sport itself
