Pivots vs attack

Is there much a difference in the feel of pivot 15s and attack 13s in how they ski? I had pivots last szn and both of my brakes broke and dont know weather i should try some attacks.

I feel like picking between those two bindings comes down to personal preferences, you can't go wrong with giving the Attacks a try if you're curious about them, next pair of sticks you'll know which one you prefer!

Pivots are fine unless you land to far backseat…

If your broke 2 brakes on your pivot 15s, Attacks wouldn’t be any better. Pivot 15s are full metal toe and heel, whereas Attacks are plastic. Do pivots, if you don’t want to buy a whole new binding then swap the brakes (a lot easier than people think).

The only complaint ive heard about attacks is that someone had pre toe release bc his afd wasnt adjusted tight enough in the toe.

ive got attack 2s and love them. And dynamically i think they are better than pivots because of their low ride height and solid feeling toe and heel.

The only complaint? Go back to your head edges thread dolt. Attacks are great but that’s a fully plastic binding compared to metal 15’s. They are not exactly comparable. Bottom line, I own both, ski what you prefer and don’t listen to Doltron and you’ll be fine.

I far prefer attacks. They feel a heck of a lot nicer to ski on imo. I've rid pivots for only a few laps but they felt very insecure and not very confidence inducing even though I was clipped in and wasn't ejecting

pivots look better (imo)

pivots are partly (or entirely) metal based on how much $$$ u got

pivots are fucking annoying

never tried attacks but i'm gonna pick up a pair for my powder/all mountain skis this season.

own both, attacks are alright but have a harsh release and as mentioned above the afd has problems. pivots are super nice to ride but the brakes are a complete cunt and a half to fix (not like attacks are any better tho since their brakes are screwed directly into the ski). Its all personal preference, but that being said i prefer my pivots any day over my attacks

If you want the Attack2 14s with 95mm brakes, let me know. Got a set of them brand new to unload. $160 not including shipping.

Lemmefayo I can get a pair on evo for less

People hate on me for saying this but the way the pivot secures the heel of the boot, it lets the ski flex better, at least compared to Markers in my experience. I've found pivots like more foreword pressure than the indicator line suggests. I also run a higher heel din than toe. I don't really eject switch like some people do so I haven't had pivot brake issues.

Ik I'm a culprit of asking questions that have been answered but there should be a sticky thread of pros and cons of popular bindings

As it’s been mentioned in many threads before, low AFDs are usually the cause of pre-releases on Attacks and Marker bindings. Rare that the tech remember to wheelie the toe(pull HARD on rear boot cuff to eliminate slack) and THEN adjust AFD up. Easy to spot on Attack2 bindings as the AFD moves up and forward and a properly adjusted AFD will partly cover (1/3-1/2 covered) the lower screw heads. Ordering my 30th pair of Attacks this week and never had a pre-release on them.

Should look similar to this on traditional alpine boots.

Attack 11 bindings are geared toward lighter beginners so are light but not as well built as the Attack 12 and up heels. Higher heel stand height on the 11 too(2022 is finally the same height).

30th pair of midpack bindings

Owned Look(pivots, px, spx bindings and even Geze bindings), Salomon STH and Wardens and many Markers over the years.

Pivots are the best bindings out there but I buy/sell skis so often the limited adjustability for boot sizing makes the Attacks a better bet for easier resale with the skis.
