Pivot 18 14

Can I use a pivot 18 metal toe with a 14 heel.? I'm a 3+ but only 170 5'10 so my Din is 8.5. But I don't like that plastic toe on the 14s . I think this would be the best solution. Anyone agree with this? Ty

this shit is killing me 14 or 18???

Don't like the color. Forza is sick. Matches my blue/orange Lange RS boots

You can technically do anything you won’t but no shop that’s worth anything will test that, it’s completely illegal for them to do so unless they want to be shut down

So when you say you don't like it, have you skied and actually had problems with it? Or are you just assuming that it isn't up to snuff because a few small dick dudes tell you "it's what men ride" or something?

Sure, the 18 toe is more durable and also has better power transfer, but I know a hell of a lot of great skiers who have been 14 for years with minimal issues and prefer it since the release values are much better and a safer overall design.

You have no idea what your talking about both me and the shop call Ross Look and they said it's a normal thing and they see a lot of people doing it and actually recommended it to me. It's the same heal! a DIN is a DIN no mater if it's 14 or 18

Yes I skied in both. The 18 is a metal and very sturdy toe rides great much more control and looks sick!!

This isn’t actually true man, yeah the din might be the same number but the springs are totally different. Also, safety should any day be more important to you than what you want ur bindings look like. There’s two types of people, people who buy pivots for the acc safety reasons, and people that just want the clout for having them and being a “rad” park skier with pivots. Like I’m not trying to be a dick be think of the reality of this. They aren’t meant to work together mechanically so I would personally stay away from this.

well look in Utah says different

Thank you kindly, it’s illegal for shops to work on bindings that aren’t paired correctly. Any shop doing otherwise is opening themselves up to liability risks

I can also vouch for the fact most ski shops won't mount 2 different bindings on the same skis.

Well Look told me and the shop that people do it and that it's ok. They even said they hear this question all the time and they always say yes. Its the same heel.

Well then fuck it. Send it. You got our advice. Personally I’m gonna go and mount some bindings up. Thinking an attack toe with a pivot heel and then on the right ski a jester pro heel with a Salomon shift toe. I’m gonna need brakes though. Any ideas?

Yeah but this is NS so guess which category most people happen to fall into here. Common sense < drip for a lot of people as it turns out

Yey my dck!! Fool your mentioning dift models with different shapes. A pivot heal is a pivot heal 12 / 14 / 18 is a pivot heal compatible to the 18 toe!!

LMFAOOOOOO

i actually don't think this is too crazy. a ski shop would never do it on the books i'm sure but i do think it'd be fine in real life. a pivot heel is a pivot heel so changing toe pieces doesn't seem dangerous (just insanely, needlessly expensive lol)

Whoever said it won’t work, is retarded and has no experience. I hate it when people just blurt something out.

the 14 and 18 heel pieces are identical, just a different internal spring, and din indicator.

there are numerous pieces of info to confirm this.

IVE USED 14 heels with 18 toes. I’ve released fine and have had no issues.

Now that that’s cleared up,

Op, now this is just a matter of din. If you’re riding above an 8, and want the durability, go for the 18s. More expensive and more weight tho. having owned multiple pairs of each I’d say the 18s are worth it if your gonna grow and your skiing is gonna progress.

I mean yeah you can definitely do it. Properly setting din is going to be fucked and I see absolutely no reason to be riding an 18 din toe if you only ride at 8.5. seems like a ton of overkill to me.

This is why he should just spray paint some p15

The spring in the toe piece is what makes the difference though. Granted, an 8 DIN on a P14 toe piece and P18 toe piece are numerically the same, but the springs are compressed differently due to their difference in length and strength.

TO SUMMARIZE: this is possible and you can absolutely do it. The point that people (myself included) are trying to make, is that legally, shops are not legally permitted to work on mismatched bindings.

This thread is way longer than necessary. OP is a freaking beater who cares too much about binding color. Just wait for 15’s dipshit, get the gold or black ones in the Forza 2.0 is unbearable.

I already put the black 18s at 12din for my backflips. And watch your mouth or I'll give you a dipshit in your asss bich!!!

Well Ross look told the shop to do it. But I did the 18s black regardless . People are stupid and stubborn as shit

Why are you so mad ? and how are you tryna be homophobic in 2020 dawg that’s weak

I'm just confused why you need to mismatch bindings, and if you are, please send me the 18 heels and 14 toes, I'm short on bindings.

Personally, I have my heel dins a bit higher than the toes. I use 18's and I didn't mismatch moving to them from 14's, but I have my dins at 11 or 12 so would happily take a set of 14's lmao

I got a question I got my skis mounted backwards with my pivot 14s don’t ask questions but are the holes the same so I could just switch them?
