People actually using pipes is what would convince people to build pipes. That said maybe triples would do that? I don't see it though.

Also they're absurdly expensive to build and a pain in the ass to maintain. If people would rather hit 10 rails, the resort will save a few trillion dollars and build those instead.

That said I love a good pipe. RIP pipe

That’s what I meant, that if people pushed the sport in the comp scene then it could gain popularity again. Unlikely, yes, but one can hope.

At this point, I don't think that it would even matter if people truly wanted to ride pipe. It is simply not a viable option for 90% of resorts when looking at their resources, budgets, capabilities, etc. Building a half pipe is the definition of a malinvestment.

Ha, couldn't be more true. I think there is one resort, maybe 2 left in Ontario that still does a halfpipe. RIP

When Snoqualmie had a pipe, people would ski it right after it was cut but they would just let it go for so long that the walls would get kinked and over verted and it would just suck. I think it was a good move for them to get rid of it honestly. Probably like 5% of people are able to get out of a 22 foot pipe and link a real run together, it's pretty gnarly to boost out of IMO. If resorts brought a pipe back they should build like 2-3 hit pipe with smaller walls that people can actually take advantage of.

Everyone and their mom wants to see torin do a triple. I think it should be him too but I know he isn't down with triples and I have a feeling gus will do one then make a speech about how being gay made it harder.
