Let me start off by saying he’s not a bad filmer. I found Pierre through Instagram probs around 4-5 months ago. And recently w mount hood and summer skiing I feel like he’s blown up a bit. And I always see shit about pdog being the best filmer and pdog is a wizard and pdog is goated. But I just don’t see what’s so special about the filming. Keep in mind, I’m not a great filmer so I’m not saying I’m better. But I feel like if you stole his camera, and gave it to the average park skier. They could produce the same shit. And I feel like maybe I’m walking into a pit of fire by posting this. But I’m genuinely not understanding the hype. I do enjoy his edits, they’re good, but don’t stand out from others I see. And I’m not just basing this off his recent stuff I just spent a solid half hour going through his stuff to make sure I actually know what I’m talking about. Like here’s one clip for example…

like this is your average pdog clip. Soft brownish yellow tint w some grain and then he’ll throw in some freeze frames and an effect or two. And I just truly feel like it’s all in the camera. And maybe it is and that’s what you all mean but I’m pretty sure it isn’t. And I’m gonna tag you Pierre (I can’t find his acc so somebody tag him) because I wanna give you a chance to defend urself and your work. I will say the dude has sweet music choice it’s always pretty unique and I’ve actually added plenty of his songs to my playlist so props for that. But anyways do you guys agree with me on the idea that his filming is overrated (NOT BAD just overrated) or am I a stupid fuck who needs to keep his shitty opinion to himself. Let me know.

The conclusion was to stop giving a shit and hating on him. He has homies that like his stuff and he is taking advantage of it like any filmer would in his position.
 
Also why does everyone keep acting like this guy has some expensive ass setup that’s doing all the work for him.

the stuff he puts out seems like stuff that any mediocre dslr or hand cam could film.

In action sports the quality of filming does matter, but other important things are -

1. connections

2. Being a fun/nice person to work with

3. Being available to film whenever

4. Not ever blowing it and messing clips up.

5. Social media consistency

Speaking to number 4. people hate on Keanu reaves as an actor. But what people don’t know is that he always remembers his lines, does some of his own stunts and is very professional/easy for directors to work with.

yeah just dont shit people - instead DM him, ask questions and work on improving yourself. this just burns connections/friends you could've potentially had.

like i said, the kids more than happy to answer questions if you originally approach him privately instead of publicly trying to call him out.
 
can you explain to me how this dude is overhyped? He has like 3k followers on insta, do you know how many ski touring influencers have that many followers? The ones who are hot girls have like five times that many easy

creating this long ass thread about some guy who is probably just getting baked and making fun ski videos with his friends on mount hood is wicked strange
 
I like his edits but I definitely don’t think it’s anything extraordinary, I can name a handful of much better filmers/editors.

That being said I wouldn’t make a whole ass book just to shit on the mans. it’s not like he cloutchases and rides his own dick and all that shit just to get his name where it was. His name is where it was because he’s consistent, and a homie. Never met the dude irl but I can imagine he’s a good ass dude, therefore you have a touch of wack in you for writing a whole book just to shit on him.

with the sea of people using handycams to make ski vids now (myself included) pdog's probably stand out the most because he has a unique style, especially when most kids his age can't even be bothered to film on something other then an iphone.
 
99% of skiers would rather ski than film. I have respect for anybody that is willing to pay for a pass and spend any significant amount of their time filming other riders. Doesn't matter if they are "average" filmers or not, it's just the fact that they take their own time to film others than ski themselves.
 
Bro filming and editing is an art form. It’s a way for individuals to express themselves however they so choose. Don’t hate

All that really matters is pro skiers at hood could pretty much have anyone point a camera at them yet Pierre has multiple riders vouching for him. There’s a reason. Don’t know him but filming other people ski (or snowboard or skate) takes a shit load of patience, knowing when to be where, and the overall stoke level to max out your homies potential. Not to mention the time editing at a computer… Sounds like he has the sauce and you’re mad for some reason.

I actually haven’t it’s all been on HVXs and ACs there is one rly old one about the pd170 which is a handy cam but it’s the professional version of the vx2100

I dont agree with you, but edits are subjective and I understand that some people do have horrible opinions. With that being said, lets stick to hating on the real, un-negotiable problems in skiing.

Caribou tricks, quads, and fake afterbang. (Im joking…. Kinda)

Everything else is fine. Back when I was younger I used to watch dudes with wack style i’d be like this guy is fucking trash how can you 630 out of rails and not have style and then I realized I didn’t have the best style myself and I was like oh shit, maybe its just not easy. Same goes with this. Imo PDogd is a great filmer/editior but its sure as fuck not easy or else we’d be seeing a lot more crazy edits. Even if he isnt as great as he is hyped up to be, the dude actually puts in the work and makes content so you gotta respect the grind. Maybe one day he will improve and you will like him. But honestly, this thread was out of pocket as fuck lmaoo like why the fuck would u randomly roast him like that

Pierre shows up, doesn't miss shots, makes progressive creative choices with his editing, and is friendly and easy to work with.
