Pick Tecnica Mach1 or Atomic Hawx

I'm beginner level freeride skier looking for new boots. Decision between two 2019/20 models:

Tecnica Mach1 130 vs Atomic Hawx Prime 130 S. Both are the same feet width, flex, medium fit.

Which one have better inner boot, has more options for adjustments at fitting? Also which boot has better incorporated technologies, better shock absorption?

Feature wise, there is more than can be adjusted on the Hawx Prime. Both shells & cuffs are made with heat moldable PU plastic, both have dual sided cuff alignment, both have cantable grip pads, both offer flex adjustment.

Where the two will differ is the Hawx's Mimic liner has a fully moldable ankle, heel, instep, tongue, and calf that will shape and harden to you. And the forward lean can be adjusted between 13° or 15° or 17° before adding a liner spoiler.

While they are both "100mm" boots, you should have each double checked by your boot-fitter because the fits are slightly different. One might work for you better than the other.

Having recently tried both and buying one....Like [tag=134699]@onenerdykid[/tag] said. They fit different.

Do you have high instep (high arch foot)? Tecnica fits high insteps, how did these boots feel in this area?

I had both, atomic is a tad wider for me at least, had to block out the technica more.

both are awesome, pick the one with the best fit, for me that was the atomic, I did ski the technica like 40 days though.

I tink the 2021 atomic has a better liner than the 2020 btw? [tag=134699]@onenerdykid[/tag] has the skinny. Personally I'm makeing my curren hawx 130s last out the season/summer and getting the 2022's when they hit stores in europe.

can't make an opinion on the HAWX, but i remember picking the brain of my bootfitter for my Mach1's and we was really stoked on how manipulatable the Mach1's liner system is as well as the shell. I had work done on them due to a really nasty freak foot injury (my left foot runs just a tad of a size smaller than my right) and he was able to work some wizard magic and make them fit and ski pretty equally. Threw some boosters on there this season myself and the boots a completely different animal. Was not a fan of the stock power straps that come with them, they just feel like a leather strap across the top of your boot when they get worn out.

Also double-up on toe and heel soles, they get warn out pretty quickly as does all boots.

Op, go to a huge store and try on some nordicas, some langes, some technicas, some heads, some atomics, some dalbellos, some full tilts

Each boot manufacturer makes boots that fit a certain type of foot/ankle geometry. Find the one that fits u best then choose a 90-120 PU boot.

choosing a boot based on features is like choosing a girl based on whether she has her ears pierced. It simply doesnt matter.

A shitty boot that fits your foot/ankle perfectly is going to perform better for you than a really good boot that has a horrible fit on your foot/ankle

I went to a reputable boot fitter and he told be my hawx prime couldn’t be heat molded.

If you look between the two shell buckles on the top of your foot, there is a "Memory Fit Medium" print. This means the boot is Memory Fit compatible.

Also, [tag=103367]@Mr.Jesus[/tag] linked a video to the Memory Fit process where we used a Hawx Prime as the example boot.
