Photoshop Transparent background

i'm trying to export a logo with a transparent background to use in fcpx.

magic wand all the background adn delete it and blah blah blah, i understand jpg doesnt support an invisible background so i am using a .png file. once placed into the timeline in fcpx it only shows up as black?

weird, I use .png's with transparent backgrounds all the time in premiere. are you using png8's or 24's?

if its not over any other videos on the timeline, it'd probably default to black. or do you have it over another video and its completely blacking it out
