photoshop 7.0 ski designing

how do i take a ski shape from the line site or someting and put a new pic on them from somewhere so it is just on the top sheet of the skis not covering the whole thing?

 
select the whole image(of the skis), copy it, then open a new file, and paste it into it. (!!Make sure the background is set to transparent!! ps will set the new file size to the proper one so dont worry about that. )

Use the magnetic lasso tool and outline the ski with it

once u get the dancing ants around the ski use the eraser tool to erase the ski, it will only erase whats inside the dancing ants

next, open your design, copy that, and paste it into a new layer in the ski file. Once its a new layer, move that layer so it is below the layer with the skis

position your design so it lines up with the skis

your prob gonna have to mess aournd with it a bunch to get it to look realistic and all
