im looking to upgrade to digital. im going to keep my 35mm, obviously, but its just sucking my money with cost of film, developing, not always getting the shots you want, etc...

i'm going to stick with canon since thats what i trust and know, and i have 2 really great lenses for it already. but i'm trying to decide between the 20D and the D60. anybody have any input?

I say 20 D. That is dope shit. Its hella professional too. But lenses are the big deal really. If you have good lenses, you have a good camera. They are both nice.

i'd say to actualy get the 30d, the more upto date version of the 20d. chose either nikon or canon, either way you'll win.

however

i wouldent give up my big spin wheel for the world.

I'd normally reccomend a d60 if your just starting out, but the price of a 20D is within reason nowadays, so id say go for it. Its a great camera and will give you room to grow into.

However, more important than the camera (IMO) are the lenses. Ditch those tameron lenses (theres about 1 tameron lens of respectable quality in existance) and grab some L glass. The difference is night and day.

20D is great. Good continuous drive, high resolution, but not so high that it's noisy. That's what I'd do.

dude, he's getting a 20D. it's better. Rebels are sick tho for beginning. I have a rebel xt myself, but if I could get a 20D, I'd rather get that

I just looked at Canon's site and there seems to be no more 20D, it has been replaced with the 20D A (astromy camera). Now, I was looking at the 30D, and it seems to have pretty much the same specs as the old 20D. Does anyone know any other differences there are?

you use a mac or a pc? cause uploading raw to PC with the EOS program they give you is such a huge pain in the ass.

I second that. The L-series lenses are great, but pricey. If you can afford it, get prime lenses. They're not as versatile as zoom lenses, but their quality is much better (and they're faster lenses too).
