The main thing is to use what works for you, I shot aperture priority for a year, got plenty of amazing shots. Just learn how to meter what your shooting and adjust from there. Photography is more than "you should only use manual controls", or "you should only do what the camera tells you" it's about making the best shot you can given your situation.
