Photo and Video ratings

Hi, searchbarred and couldn't find anything. I have noticed that people who post a lot of photos and videos on here mostly have very high karma. Is there some sort of system where for instance every video or photo rating counts as a karma rating or something? Or is it just people going on their profile and giving karma out of appreciation?
 
Karma is a huge, complex and secret formula based on everything you do on the site, and user ratings are only a small part. Karma is rewarded for people who uploaded quality content, participate in discussions, post product reviews etc

Asking for +K does very little for you
