i dropped my phone in a lake and i took out the battery to dry it, rice hasnt worked so far, do you guys have any suggestions of anything else to try?

What's the meaning behind your user name? Are you to cool to be able to see reason and logic? Are you so cool you constantly have mental breakdowns?

Soak it in high percentage isopropyl alcohol, should have done it emidiately, but there may still be hope.

Why?

Isopropyl alcohol is electrically non conductive, and will clean any mineral deposits which causes corrosion.

Sources: my fucking self cause I'm an electrician.

And it's also tried and true on several of my water damaged phones

Get a vacuum. take off all of the parts on your phone that come off. Make a little seal with your hands around the vacuum and your phone and suck the water out. I did that to one of my gopros and it worked.

Does it have a warranty?

Does it have insurance?

Can you open the phone to inspect it?

Can you get it repaired somewhere?

If you can get it back to normal send it in to get waterproofed. I'm spacing what the company is called but they spray your phone and the particles are so small that they work into the phone and entirely coat the phone inside and out.

I sat in a hot tub with my phone for about 5 min before I realized it was in my pocket. I riced it for 2 weeks until my new phone came...and the moment I opened up my new phone, the old one started working. It was honestly really weird...but I packed up the new one, sent it back, and used the old one for another 4 years.

Fuck yeah. Dumb phones are the tits.

That works like shit, friend had that done, he then demonstrated it by dunking it into a beer > bam screen off, phone dead. Then someone with an Xperia Z was laughing the loudest, screaming watch this!

And that guy slammed his Sony so hard in his beer the glass broke and his phone bounced from the bar onto the concrete ground and was completely shattered

Moral of the story: waterproofing doesn't do anyone good.

yea this, its not actually the water that damages electronics assuming theyre turned off, its the deposits it leaves behind

you probably didnt leave it in the rice long enough. Thats where most people go wrong when they do this and it doesnt work because teen age girls cant go a couple days without their phone. You should leave it in for like 4 days and submerge everything in rice separately (phone without back on, battery, and sim card if you have one) And if you did do this, then i don tknow what to tell you. Its worked for me twice.

Happened to me this summer

Use rice for like 4-5 days. Another thing to try is to heat your oven to 200F, turn it off and leave your phone inside (Withouot battery, sim, microsd etc) while it cools down. Learned that one from the people at my marina. Mine was still fucked for like a week after but now it works perfectly besides the battery life which is now shit.

It was an old blackberry curve btw

replies in this thread are gold. A+ all around

OP use a time machine and go back in time before you dropped the phone in the lake to warn yourself

drop your mums iphone into the same lake.

the samsung phone is repellant to apple tech and cause your phone tol fly out of the water. then use a hammer to break open the screen to check for water damage. if water damaged get new phone, if not, get new screen.

I tried to reply to your pm but shitty Internet and mobile doesn't work well. But you can get isopropyl alcohol at any drug store or walmart, it's rubbing alcohol (you might even have some under the sink) get at least 93 percent, the higher the better
