Phish NYE 2013

have you been to the palace theatre before? I got stuck with crappy tickets but I heard everyone just moves up to the railing and you don't have to stay in your seats. is this true?
 
It's less of a "everyone moves to the railing" thing and more of an it doesn't matter which seat your ticket says you have because everyone's moving around anyway.
 
I'll be at moe. both nights. If I can swing getting off 6 days in a row from the mountain I want to hit biscuitsx2, the fish x2, moe. x 2

I doubt that will happen though. I really do want to swing 1 night of the biscuits though, haven't seen them all year.
 
There is no bad seat in the house. The palace is a legit theater as classy as they come. Only problems are the beer situation. Theaters were not built with jamband shows in mind. To make things worse I think they might have gone to a 2 beer limit.

You can def go where ever you want on a ticket but you generally can't get to the very front. Also the isles mid way and up will probably be packed. There is a cig smoking section opened up on to clinton generally but be careful. Not very big and there are sometimes cops chillin on the other side.

Also watch where you park. When you go up clinton, there are streetlights and traffic, it looks pretty nice. You go a little bit this way or that way and it get's shitty real fast. Theres also a garage a little further than the pay lot that's cheaper for 24 hours. IF you don't have a DD and might get fucked up I would park your car somewhere you don't have to move it for a while.
 
It's pretty chill but be smart. Theaters generally have more mellow staff and that family friendly vibe. They don't even search pockets going in generally so you can sneak some booze in too.

Actually for some shows they've been scanning tickets on the way out and then back in and letting people smoke outside. It depends on the show I guess. That policy is pretty chill. If you're cars close by you can go roll some up, torch one, pound a few beers or whatever and come back in.

You shouldn't have problems but be smart. There's a good chance there will be people smoking cigs and anything else right in the theater. But a lighter in the middle of darkness is easy to spot. There's a bathroom downstairs swim smoked a J in before at a smaller less raging show.

It's a sick place though. "They don't make them like that anymore" really applies to old theaters. They're fucking gorgeous and moe. will kill it for the albany crowd.
 
why can't you get up front? is it usually already full or something? because my friends and I plan on being there pretty early. or is it like security won't let you
 
It's isn't Ga. Some theaters are or have GA floors. In a seated theater, the people with good seats will be there. That's about the only time you use your ticket for the seat when you pull something in the first 5 ish rows especially a AAA ticket for front row. Can't remember but a lot of times there are security guards watching the first few rows to make sure people up there don't get trampled/nobody climbs on the stage and that shit.

Who know maybe you can get up there, def get there early though as close to show time even the isle will be filling up halfway back.

I'll go see Moe. next weekend in San Fran if any Tahoe/Reno based heads want to drive down. Im carless for now though so gotta be your wheels.
 
I went last year. Thought about trying to grab a last minute flight but don't think it's going to happen. If you don't have tickets buy them. The independent will sell out. Only holds 400 max I think.
 
Nice thanks for the tip I won't wait to buy them. I'm only gonna do the Thursday show. Haha try and do a priceline round trip light for 200 bucks!

I found 20 dollar greyhounds round trip from Reno so should be a fun day. Im dying to go to a show and hang out in those Filmore area bars anyways really pumped I can see such a good band in a cool little place.

9pm show won't end until 1am or so correct? THeres a return bus that leaves at 1am and one at 6am. Should I plan on chilling all night or you think it'll be over by 1215ish so catch that 1am bus?
 
I honestly can't remember what time it got out last year. moe. is notorious for coming on late though. They rarely come on on time unless it's a festival or there's a strict and early curfew.

The mountain I'm at is opening this week so so I have a bunch of shit to do back east or I would. I did a 5 day trip last year on $550 I think. Who knows, I might have to grow a pair and make it happen.
 
I think it's a bit early for thread worthiness but has anyone heard or planning on going to mysteryland USA in May at Bethel Woods? Local for me and pretty random that it's actually happening..
 
Never heard of it. Just by the names it sounds like an EDM fest though. I hope not though. Why do they need to bring the womp to woodstock?
 
I hear ya man. It's a foreign festival group all into that electric stuff but they appear to be bringing great vibes. Plus at Woodstock and bethel is really nice..can't miss it!!

Any poppy new age too 40 crap and my name is off the ballot.
 
At least it's 21 plus. I'm sure that will do a lot for it. I went to counterpoint and that actually wasn't a shit show. Some pretty cool people and that whole lineup was 100% electronic. I think lotus was the only band.

Camp bisco, better lineup for me but in 2011 that place was a total shit show. It pretty much tripled in size and there were actual children there in addition to all the teens enjoying bathsalts and womp.

I doubt I'll go but it is a nice venue. Hopefully it goes well and everyone stays safe. 21+ is a solid idea although. I know there are going to be a ton of butthurt kids.
 
I got tickets for both nights. I have to work early each day so I'll be getting there around show time and leaving right after. Still glad I'm making it.

Probably will be the only one with pins on a bandana. No idea what the hell I'll be wearing or where I'll be chilling. Going to bounce around most likely. Get up close then balcony for a few etc.
 
Nobody else rocks them really. It's all about the hats, but I don't wear hats. Still don't think I've run into another person with a bunch of pins on a bandana. Maybe once.

Saw you there while you were walking out of the bathroom but I may or may not have been on acid so social stuff wasn't exactly working right. I was wearing a fishman headband and looked at you awkwardly hahaha
 
Ha man I was tripping hard as well.. I walked to and from the bathroom a bunch of times during intermission. My mind didn't know what it wanted
