Petition to discourage NS becoming a paysite

I think it is ridiculous that NS is even considering becoming a paysite, we are a freeskiing community, with a growing population, how do you expect as many new users to join and enjoy NS if they have to pay. Also NS gets an incredible amount of hits a day, why cant we go out looking for somemore mainstream sponsers to have banners on the site and i wouldnt mind some more ads, i would without a doubt support all the companies that would support NS and i think NS members would do the same, and would exhibit tremendous brand loyalty.

NS admins, IT ppl, and more importantly doug and paul, i would be willing to donate money if it could keep NS free longer, but please dont make us pay, please look for alternative sources of revenue, to make NS as enjoyable for me as it is for lesser fortunate members of this site. I love NS and even all the ppl that hate me on NS i have respect for as skiers, and i feel liek this sense of community would be ruined if this became a for profit endeavor.

what's great about NS is that because there are so many people, when you post a question it is answered very quickly. Yes making people pay for NS would weed out the people who try to fuck up the site and the little bitches but it would also rid the site of people who have a lot of basic knowledge on what skis, bindings, boots, etc to get, not to metion the numerous amounts of good deals on skis and what not. If NS turns into a pay site, I will refuse to pay.

 
I think threads like this are the exact reason it should be a pay site. U cant even organize sucessful protests. Even if you guys could u realzie 80% of you will do 1 of 2 things. Pay because u realize 2 bux isnt that much or 2 say ur gunna leave but come back in a week or 2!!

Man, it's been awhile since I've lookd on the forums here, and this is what I get. First of all I think making this place a mando pay site is bullshit. The idea behind this site was never to make money. It was made to bring the freeskiing community closer together. Secondly Paul, NoPoles, can be quoted from a thread that was made last month that this site will NEVER be made into a pay site. I realize things can change, but this move would hurt NS.com, not help it. On a side note did anyone notice what day this friday is?

^Yes. That's nice. Did anyone notice that this has been in the works for over a month? This is the real deal, peeps. I called it a long time ago. And I'm not sure I want to decide whether I'm against it yet, I want to see what the mods have to say. I understand that as the place grows, it can no longer be self sufficient even with sponsors. That's not even a surprise. Whether it's worth it for me... I don't know. But don't say they're doing it to make money, because they aren't... they're doing it to survive.

ATLANTASKI you could just have your parents make a humongous donation (probably pocket change to them) and then you'd be everyone's hero.

but i don't have a huge problem with it as long as it makes NS a better place. a MUCH better place hopefully. if i'm being forced to pay money (as opposed to donating it which i've already done twice) then i hope there is something to show for it.

Strode, it's guaranteed that it would improve the site, but it's also pretty much guaranteed that it'd take a while to start seeing any real changes... from conversations I've had it seems like they have a lot to make up for and catch up with in the money department.

Jesus Christ, I don't even log on to NS for a week and this place is on the verge of turning upside down. Mad drama? Lat banned? Thought of making this place a pay only site? What the fuck? If you want money, don't strait up make everything pay. If you did that, NS would swiftly become a ghost town. If you big wigs around here are using your heads...why don't you still leave some of it free, but grant more benefits to donating/paying members. Lots of other big forums do this. If you need money, and still want people around, you will have to find a middle ground.
