petition for skiing video game

hey harvey i don't know if you have seen the 2 threads about the petition for a new skiing game, but i think you should go read them and then make a petition page on here, because i just have a feeling that you would be able to put this together better, maybe put a thing on the premium content page.

alright, this is what I posted on the petition, tell me what ya think:

Ok, the game need to be a lot more realistic in proportions of people size, mountain size, and most importantly jump size, i hate the stupid games that make all of the jumps so extremely huge that its dumb. The tricks shouldnt be so sketchy and as rigid, they need to be slow and smooth, a nice eralistic game is all I ask. Use pro riders such as Candide Thovex, Jon Olsson, CR Johnson, Philipe Belanger, and Skogen Sprang, etc. Also dont assign tricks to certain buttons, like harder grabs should be harder button combos like a safetuy is one button but a lui-kang is that button plus another and so forth, making a tweak button would be cool too, also be able to control the amount of flip and spin in a trick so you could use more spin for corks and bios and more flip for rodeos and junk like that, also the modes should be as follows, Big Mountain, Terrain Park, Comp Mode and have skiers progress instatus as they go. Also a design your own skier and skis and junk like that for maximum customizability. Just make the game free to rome the mountain, realistic, smooth, stylie, and just plain friggin addicting! This would be a sick game and I would buy it, make it widly advertised cuz newschool skiing is one of he fastest growing sports out there and thats what the kids are doing. Also make it available for all the new generation systems especially gamecube and ps2, the most important consoles. If given time and proper care do look at all the fine details by talking to the actual; pro like listed above than this game would fly off the shelves like hot potatoes (or THPS games) my guarantee.

Why would they make another skiing game? I thought snowboarding was the cool thing to do.

well i guess this idea is dead. nobody signed the petition that was up, and harvey didn't put one up on here. i guess it wasn't that good of an idea.

yeah actionsports did start one, but nobody really signed it. that why if you put one up on here there will be more sigs

this doesn't make much sence to me because what are you really trying to accomplish by that proposal? they will jjust laugh at you. Maybe tell them more about marketing and sales to give them a reason to work at it. Then just send it to them in a letter.

 
thats what we were gonna do. we were gonna get tons of people to sign it and then we would gather everybodys ideas and put it into a nice little letter with the petitions and send it to all of the video game companies. its free market research for them. but we went to get sigs but nobody signed. so if we got a petion put up on here then 500 times more people would sign it.

because 500 or even 5000 would make it worth there investment.... If a game only makes 10,000 (5000 people at 50) why would they put more then 3/4 that into production and release costs? They would sure read it over and take some to consiteration but won't expect very large results.

Personaly I think 3do saw a growing market and wanted in before it took off so there foot was already in the door and they already had a base engine.

 
first of all 500 or 5000 people is a small minority of skiers, do you think that only people on this board will buy the game.

Also its better to try then not do anything at all, I mean it takes what 2 minutes to sign the petition, surely everyone can take two minutes out of there busy lives to sign it.

oh ya sorry, i forgot about that HUGE following that our sport has...

You need to face the facts that it will be a while until we get a decent game. That game will only come because of competition between developers for our dollar. As long as 3do is the only one making them it won't get much better.

Also they aren't going to look at your petition and think, 'wow and this is only a part of the market'. sorry but they will think that is all that you could get for your idea and that there is nothing much beond that out there (also remember that they have sales stats from the last game on hand).

Again I'm sorry to rain on your parade but those are the facts. I'm also looking forward to the day we get a decent skiing game out there.

 
yeah but it is still worth a try if you ask me, but i give up right now cause if harvey doesn't help us then it wont happen.

Like I said maybe nothing would come of it, but then again maybe it would. I don't think they expect a petition with 5 million signatures, do you? They probably don't expect a petition at all. But if we show up with a petition from '1' website with 500 signatures I can guarantee you they will look at it, maybe they won't make a game but at least they will see there is some kind of a market and keep that thought in there head, which will make a game happen faster. Also in case you didn't know, the guy that was working on JMMT2 is already in disscussion for a new game with tanner hall. Do you think our petition is going to hurt that? I certainily don't. Bottom line is money, they are in business to make money, and if we can show them how fast our sport is growing, maybe they will see the potential for money. You don't have to be a hater and say this is a waste of time. This isn't a waste of time. Do you think trying something is a waste? Certainly you didn't learn to ski over night and I don't expect a game over night, but with persistence I think we have a good chance. We gotta start somewhere and I'm done waiting, the longer we wait the longer it will take before anything happens.

yes you need help from harvey. Also yesterday I erased my database in the ski forum while I was setting up a snowboard forum, needless to say I lost the petition.

When my site gets bigger which it will I'll start another one.

late = math hard. Plus if you really wana spend time on it all the power to you but I am just saying I wouldn't to change much (esp in jmmt2 since it has already started production). Have fun though
