Hey guys,

I'm just posting a message outlining some changes I'm making to help with performance.

First up is I have once again changed the message history. The message table was getting too big and queries were getting really slow. From now on only messages sent within the last 365 days will be available from the message history. Once a month we will do a clean up and move out messages older than 365 days.

Next up is my comment code used for the news, park updates and event calendar. You'll notice that the html tags A and IMG are now disallowed. You can still have links and images, but you'll have to include them differently. Info on how to do this is in the NS Help.

Next up is some back-end re-working so the database won't be so strained. After that I hope to release the new forums!!

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I'm doing a message history cleanup right now. It will take a few hours (eekk!!) so until then the site may be a bit slow... If you can avoid using your message history feature until then then that will speed things up.

Yes that's right. But target=_blank is put in automatically.

Example, If i type in just:
http://www.google.ca

Then that will be turned into a hyperlink that targets to _blank. This only works in messages and commenting for news, event calendar and park updates. My new forums will also work this way.

would any of this make the site not work properly with mozilla now? all of a sudden, today it is asking me how i want to open php files, but only from this site. it works fine on IE, but is totally useless on Mozilla for some reason now. any ideas?

you should make it that you can do an edit in a post, however you cannot erase what you originally said. Like at the bottom of your post it should say like 'edited 5/4/05: I meant bong not boner' hahaha or some shit like that just to get rid of lotsa meaningless posts that have like *corrections.

I don't think the edit feature would be a good idea. If everyone just thought about what they were going to say and, maybe even READ OVER IT! before they submit it, there wouldn't be any need for this feature. But, in the event that there was an edit feature, I think the best way to handle it would be some sort of time limit. I.E. you have 5 minutes to make changes to your post and/or delete it and then all of your editing/deleting privileges are revoked.

There will be no edit feature, you type what you want to say then commit to it. If you want to correct yourself you post again.
