People of Portland

I just took a job and I'm moving to Portland in two weeks and trying to figure out a good spot to get an apartment. I'm going to be working both downtown and in Hillsboro so I'm looking for a location convenient to both. The NW part of town looks pretty sick and it looks like its close to some hiking/biking trails?

Any locals have any insight? Wheres a good area to be, and where is traffic horrible in the morning/afternoon? I've never been to Portland but I've heard good things thanks for any help!

Also will be worth getting a season pass somewhere or just buy day tickets and check out all the options? Looks like Baker and Bachelor aren't too far, with the Hood resorts being the closest

NW is close to hiking trails, there are very few legal biking trails in Portland city limits. HWY 26 traffic can suck but it sounds like you're doing the opposite commute as most so that will help a bit and from NW you can always take backroads to try to bypass traffic. I don't think you can go wrong with NW(you'll pay more there) or inner NE Portland for a living location. Good way to go for season passes if you plan on riding a lot is a Meadows season or midweek pass with a skibowl night pass and come spring time a Timberline spring pass. Baker will take you 6hrs traffic depending. You can also throw Crystal into that mix as well. Any more question feel free to PM me.

without a doubt NW Portland.ive lived in every single part of Portland, within reason of course, and NW is the only spot I'd ever live in again.
