Basically, THON is a 46 hour dance marathon that is completely run by the students. It is the largest student-run philanthropy in the nation, raising something over 6.5 million dollars last year(that number in the video). Although frats and sorotities are the biggest fundraisers for it, pretty much every organization on campus gets involved with raising money. As someone said before, if youve ever been in central PA, along with a lot of other places(people go canning at their hometowns, so sometimes they go to MD, NY, NJ etc.) you will see people canning. This is one of the ways to raise money. THON starts tomorrow at 4, so they hype is really big on campus right now. THON is amazing because it unites the community, numerous kids come in and inspire people, tell their stories, and best of all, all of the money goes towards kids with cancer. In the video you might have seen FTK a few times. That means "For the Kids", a huge motto we live by here. All in all it is going to be an awesome time(im a freshman its going to be my first time) and I am pumped for it, so I figured I'd share it with you.
