PB&J for everyone

Im going to copy and paste it from my project:

I am a fortunate individual, college is challenging to pay for, but doable, the roof leaks sometimes but its there, and food albeit often frozen or a bit less than nutricious is always there. This is just a dream for many across this country.

It is not wrong to live comfortably, nor is it wrong even to have a relatively extravagant lifestyle. We must however remember that the leftovers we threw in the trashcan equated to more food than some in this country have had in days.

For years I volunteered at the local food bank handing out bags of food to those in need. The look and appreciation of those receiving food that needs it more than anything makes one’s personal issues seem small and unnecessary.

I am driving across the country with my father, moving from my home in Maine to a new home in Colorado, something only the well-off among us can do. My goal however is to spread care across the country as I go. I will be handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (along with alternatives for allergies) and water for those who are struggling in the streets of many cities across this country.

Human to human interaction in my eyes is one of the most pure forms of compassion and care, and I would like to spread it in my own way across the country.

Give me $5 or $10, small change to most of us, but a big change in the life of others.

Sparknotes: Donate a few bucks to me or ask your parents to, so while I pursue my ski dreams, some people who otherwise couldn't could have a sandwhich in cities I pass through along the way

Cheers guys, if you have a few bucks to spare, I would really appreciate it!

Not to sound like a dick, but why should we fund this? What do people who fund this get in return? You could easily just go buy the materials yourself and have the satisfaction of helping people with your own money rather than spending other peoples to make you look good. This a pretty great idea but i personally think you should be funding it yourself, not asking for donations. It kind of takes away from the generosity behind the whole idea.

I cant afford to buy the materials needed for 1000 peanut butter and jellys along with the water. You guys dont get much in return, just some personal satisfaction. Kinda the way donations in general work? Im not a company, I am not getting anything out of this, its going to be a lot of work, im going to areas that most of you probably wouldnt go.

Im not sure what your issue is with it? Im not pocketing any cash here

And also to think I am not spending any of my own money into this, thats a little ridiculous. I am asking people for contributions to make it bigger than I ever could out of my own pocket.

Why wouldnt I use my money to make pb and js for the homeless near me?

Go for it man, if youre going to do it... We often donate to charity because people dont otherwise do it. Im just a kid trying to make a small difference in a few peoples lives.

You dont have to give me 5 bucks for it.

If people have 55 grand to put towards a kid making potato salad, why are you being a dick to a dude just trying to make life better for the less fortunate? A few dollars is not that big of a donation but when lots of people donate a bit, a real big difference its going to become for those who get to eat.

There are a lot worse things to put your money into.

I guess my main concern is, is this one time thing or are you going to keep it going? Gofundme campaigns sketch me out with all the bullshit that people try and get money for. In no way was i trying to hate on what youre trying to do, I was just looking for a little more info. I think what you're trying to do is great if you plan on keeping it going after you move to youre new spot

Whatever money is left after the trip I will be donating to a local food bank in Denver, I should probably clarify that in my original gofundme post. Rest assured the money is going to good use.

Adding that would clarify a lot of questions people might have as to where extra money goes once you make it to your final destination. Hopefully you have a successful campaign. Would enjoying hearing how it went once you finsih
