Pass suspended for jibbing snow making equipment

So I was at Keystone yesterday, and I saw one of those barrel-like things that cover the snow making equipment on the side of the run and it was begging to be jibbed. So I ski to it, hop over it, and tap the back of my skis on the top of it. Then as i'm riding off satisfied with such a simple yet very fun jib, a ski patrol boarder yells at me and pulls me over. He tells me that jibbing outside of the terrain park is dangerous and that the plastic cover for the snow making equipment is fragile and cannot withstand such beating. Of course I find this whole situation hilarious and talk back with sarcasm. He asks me what the stuff in the terrain park is made of. I reply, "snow". He says no, they are made of metal and plexiglass so they don't break. He asks to see my pass. I ask him why. He says he wants to see it. So i pull out my pass and show it to him then I put it away. Then he tells me to give it to him. At this point I am worried he will take it from me so I say no. He tells me hes not going to confiscate my pass so I end up giving it to him. He then tells me that he could charge me criminally for destruction of property but he says he wasn't going to because he didn't want to call the sheriff. I tell him that that is the biggest bullshit i've ever heard. So now I have to take a safety class at keystone before I can use my pass to ski again.

haha thsat sucks i got pulled over for speedinfg last week opn schoolmarm. but where was this cover going to montezuma lift?

last week i got pullled over going through that little kids park thing where you like go through the house and it was before they put up the sign that basically said no jibbers allowed. i also got pulled over for skiing switch on schoolmarm i think

That thing is just sits there waiting to be jibbed.

Ryan and Russ had to do the mountain safety class because they ducked ropes. I think it's pretty funny actually.

" Of course I find this whole situation hilarious and talk back with sarcasm."

don't do that next time and you're good. it's all about attitude, if you're cool about it, then there's no issue.. if you're not, then they'll use whatever power they have to screw you over. now if this person has no power over you whatsoever, then do all you want haha.

It's pretty lame that he pulled your pass for it, but what did you expect when you are talking back to him?

want respect? give it back. Say "oh, I didn't realize how fragile it was, I'll make sure to stay away from that stuff from now on, blah blah blah"

Next time you should be good if you are overly nice. remember that rather than suspending a pass they have the right to just take away your pass if they so much as don't like your attitude.

From the looks of it you sounded like a little punk talking back to the ski patroller. I mean seriously dont be a dumb ass next time and everything will go fine. I mean its the same thing when the cops pull you over, do you talk back sarcastically to them when they pull you over?

ya i had the same thing happen to me cuz i was going to fast, so he asked why i was going that fast and i said "I was going to fast and afraid to turn" ahhhhhhhhhhh he didn't like that too mcuh

Swallow your pride next time for 5 min and u wont need to sit through a long ass class. Being a tough guy in the moment seems to be cool or the right thing to do but usually if u just eat your pride u get away alot easier.

Yea I guess it was a bad idea to talk back. But I was so pissed that he made it such a big deal that I didn't feel like giving this guy any respect. I mean I wasn't going to just let this guy walk all over me for such a minor offense. I stick up for myself as much as possible because thats what you have to do in this world if you don't want to get taken advantage of but i guess in this instance it kinda backfired. I mean, Im not just going to do whatever some power tripping ski patroller tells me to do. I have no regrets. And he was going to suspend my pass either way .

Well, he did what i would have done. When I stop people for doing stuff that not really safe I usually just tell them to not do it any more or do what ever they were doing away from the crowds. I know 90 percent or park skiers are able to hit jibs and jumps along trail with out any problem its the other people who get freaked out and fall or get hit.

The only reason he took your pass is cause you talked back. I never take or clip passes unless the person is a dick and then they deserved it any way. Also when you buy your pass or ticket you are legally obligated to surrender your pass to any mountain personal who would need it.

That sucks you lost your pass but at least you have a second chance to not be a smart ass next time.

so if i would have skied away from this guy without giving him my pass what could he have done? he's not allowed to touch me, right? so, he would probably called the cops on me, but I would have been long gone from the base and free, right? risky move but still possible.

yeah you shouldnt have talked back but bsome people there are stupid. aka the speeder contyrol. i rode the lift with an instructor who has workedf at keystone for years and he said a lot of them are weekend warriors who come up to catch boarders and people on twin tips.

non existant in europe. and no problems here as yet. you dont need some fucking ski police to tell people what to do the whole time. seems like more nanny state control from the u.s of a.

That Sucks! I jib those things regularly and ski patrol never says anything. They are huge dicks about other stuff sometimes though.

same thing happend to my friend but he worked at the mountain

ski patrol went crazy and he got fired

the patrolers are a bunch of assholes but if he hadnt talked back he would still have his job

that sucks for you but it could have been avoided

I take them off the snowmaking pumps at my hill and bring them into the gay little jumps in my park. I also take snowtubes and fuck with those in the park and no one says anything. My hill is ghetto though.

Ya you can run and there arent that many patrollers who can actually ski well, or boarders, so your chances of getting away are pretty good. But if you run and get caught expect them to be pissed.

But dont get caught its that easy and thats what i use to do.

the whole charging you for the destruction of property thing is bullshit, the most they could do is make you buy a new snow-cone to get your pass back but its a vail resort so they have plenty of money.

it works alot better if you just agree with them and dont talk back

at my hill and probably many others if you dont give them attitude you're fine

You're in high school, aren't you?

If so, reality is going to hit you like a ton of bricks. The world does not revolve around you, and your attitude makes things much more difficult than they need to be for everyone around you. Grow up and think of someone besides yourself before you do something stupid again.

ski patrol isnt just some stupid nanny service. people always seem to get so pissed because of shitty ski patrol, and yes, shitty ski patrolmen are annoying. but its nice when u get hurt and patrol comes and carts u down or when they are there to offer minor medical help.

last day at mt washington last year i was riding switch down the side of a run away from everyone and the head ski instructor chased me down to the chair and started yelling/swearing at me then reported me to patrol because i was "swearing" when i just sat there and shut my trap

Fuck you for being so dame ignorant. Ski patrollers are not cops, though some think they are, and just like any other job there are good troller and bad ones.

So what happens to you when you fracture your femur in the middle of mountain or your unconscious in the park? In the wilderness you typically would die. Wether you know it or not there is a ton of work that goes on that is there for your safety every day at a resort( europe too).

"nanny state control from the u.s of a."

Fuck you.

Of course

there is ski patrol in Europe butt the don't do anything except helping people.

We don’t have people telling you to slow down. Or to make sure you don’t ride

switch. You have got to admin you Americans are always afraid of lawsuits and

because of that have rules that do not make any sense and are completely unnecessary.

I agree it is a bit like ski patrol is a big baby sitter next to the great work

they do of course.

its cause everyone is SUE happy in the US. Think about it this way...you jib that cover...you get hurt doing it....your mommy and daddy(cause the thread creator is obviously a kid) then sue the resort for being careless.

I pretty sure in europe you get hurt on the mountain...then its your fault and you deal with it. Just do a search on here for stupid people sueing resorts over this kind of shit

yo thats mad dumb but kinda exspected.

Today i a similar thing happend, at the end of our park theres this rope of to an emerge in trails and people always hop it. Well i was just fuckin around and hoped it and right there was a patroly. He was like "you, come over here" Im like shitt this guys an ass so he continues to ask me why do you think thats there im like i dunno its kinda pointless. Hes like kids like you could really injure someone. He then reaches for my pas and just looks at it im like fuck, hes like i could pull this you know im like uhhh. He then says get lost now.

I got kinda lucky but basiclly patrols have nothing better to do then pick on park kids, so there looking for attitude. You just cant give it to them or there gonna pull your pass. IT was your attitude that got you pass pulled dog

exactly. maybe i wasnt clear enough. of course we need people to offer medical assistance, i broke my collar bone 3 weeks ago about a 2 hour ski from where i live (verbier, 4 vallees), and it would have been very uncomfortable getting back without the good work of thierry on teh snowmobile. at the same time, thierry doesnt concern himself with telling people to slow down, or stop skiing backwards, or having fun. thierry is too busy helping people. if only thierry was thierry heny...

we have rangers that are the "cops" of the mountain but the ski patrols still yell at people for doing things that are wrong or dangerous or anything liek that. If they see someone ducking ropes or some other gay shit taht we get yelled at for, they arent just gonna lay it off and not do anything about it. they are still gonna yell at people if they are not being safe so fuck off

We have mtn safety to yell at people where i work. But ya There is the whole sue happy group of people in the US. I personally think its wrong and people need to take a little responsibility

when it come to a lot of stuff.
