Part of a quote instead of all of it?

is there any way to quote just part of someone's quote instead of all of it? i apologize if this has already been brought up.

Hmm.. I would love to do this, but I'm not sure how to do this easily. If you know of this being done on other forums please let me know so I can check it out.

maybe under account tools you could have how many lines to be displayed also instead of always being 2 or 3, i cant remember. but having a specific part to quote would be a good thing to have

in a band forum i saw they use

actual quote

already in the reply box so you can edit the stuff between the

s. don't know if you can incorporate something like this or not. html is not my thing.

^couldnt you completely change what they said so it looks like you're quoting something that they didnt say? like you erase the quote they said then type in your own stuff

If you could get the quote feature to only quote the post and not the signature it would be a whole lot better.
