Park vs. Big mountain

This is about park riders and how some of Park Rats cant even link a descent line together in powder. Skiing isnt about the rock hard ice and groomed runs its about the Fucking POWDER! Anyone that rides the park on a powder day is an idiot and should be casterated and yet many park riders do. So this is just to say that park riding is fun but dont ride park on Powder days So learn how to link some turns, so that you dont look like an idiot when you get sponsored and go heli skiiing.

And the award for one of the most talked about subjects goes to.... THIS ONE whooo way to be the eleventy millionth person the bring this up!

when do you see park rats ever bitching about people not riding park. you could do niether and rip groomers. its called doing whats fun and skiing. your idea may be different btu isnt the whole point of skiing to go otu and have fun doing what your doing.stop trrying to influence people.

Powder is awesome, but that doesn't mean you can't take a run through the park during a powder or storm day. I love riding park when it's snowing...every thing is soft, and there is something cool about being airborne in the snow.

i used to be the biggest hater of people skiing park on a pow day but i've begun to accept it. as much as people like pep and eric pollard are blending park and pow riding, the vast majority of skiers are very niche oriented. some kids ski park all day, some kids hike billy goat lines and drop cliffs all day. sooooo in the end you need to ride whatever makes you happy, be it park, big mountain, or anything inbetween. after all, doesn't one less person outside the park on a pow day leave more fresh for you to slash?

why are you telling people to ski powder? Let the park skiers stay in the park so there's more powder for you!?

That is a sorry thing to hear.

I somewhat agree, you do whatever's fun for you, but what I hate is park rats complaining that the jumps suck because they are covered with a foot or two of powder. If you complain about that, I consider you truly pathetic.

my mom doesn't like powder. she likes the ease of making turns on grommers. and she could probably even beat half of you guys down the hill.

umm does this look like a park rat to you?

hard not to be a park rat with a 400 ft mountain. we had 1 powder day this year which was awesome because we usually get none

i only venture out of the park on pow days and then when its skied out i go home to my wonderful little parky even though it hurts me so much more with shitty ass huge kickers with short gaps and even shorter landings :'(

i love pow on the jumps

nothing better than landing off of a huge booter into 6 inches of managable pow

sking 2 feet of fresh beats that any day though

id love to ski pow but alas i ski in upstate NY so im quite contemp being a park rat. yes i have skiid powder past my waist and it was fun but but so was doing a rail or a jump its all fun. leave it at that

i'm not a huge 4bi9 fan by any means (i.e., unlike most of this website, i'm not desperate to take it in the butt from them, etc.) but you're hate is misguided. first of all, he's not saying that, he's saying who cares if kids want to ski park on powder days? i'd much rather be skiing pow myself, but if a kid has more fun hitting tables and park jibs then he shouldn't go ski powder to make the haters on newschoolers.com happy. secondly, if you're gonna hate on 4bi9 for being park rats, leave at least euler out of it...the kid's sick and not a park rat by any means. if there's powder to be found, he's out there finding it - i've seen it frequently. moral of the story: skiing should be about having FUN. stop the hate.

and if you're implying co and ut are in the midwest...you should wait until your 4th grade social studies class covers US geography. the term "midwest" refers to places like iowa, indiana, illinois...yeah, now powder there.

watching 4bi9 edits is everything i want to see while watching skiing.

and fuck you if you have a problem with me thinking that.

seems to me that they're all a bunch of really cool dudes (cant say for sure, never met them) who really are stoked on skiing and like skiing just the way i like skiing.

they are def. not park rats. and fuck what anyone else says what they portray in there edits makes me happy.

i dont have any mountains to ski powder, so there. Although I can ski powder when I ski in the west.

Skiing the untracked, away from the lifts is where the soul of skiing lies. Natural terrain is where it's at. But learning a cork7 off a huge hit takes more skill than skiing a big mountain line. Big mountain is scary because all the variables. Almost every cliff i've dropped had something sketchy about it. Like an uneven take off with jagged rocks barely poking out of the snow. I can almost always have more fun out of the park, but park is fun and if i'm in there for a day it kind of hooks me and i just want to ski park for awhile. And if you learn to go big in the park you can pick up big mountain. If you learn to ski the bumps, you can pick it up fast. You could also point out that a lot of big mountain guys don't ski powder very well either. As long as everyone's having fun though, who cares.

you should do whats fun and what you like, i love pow, so thats what i ski, and 4bi9 are not parkrats

And just a question? Not to knock anybody, but why is the by in 4bi9 spelled bi. I'm assuming it's not a sexual preferance thing, but it looks like it when you see it. I'm not trying to knock them, they probably kick ass. I'll have to check out some of their edits.
