Park skier trying euro-cup ski cross

This year I’ve given some serious thought and consideration towards competing in euro cup ski cross. I’ve spent the past few years riding out of bounds in Montana, sending park laps, just enjoying the sport and not competing.

I have never raced ski cross with the full FIS approved kit and wondered what some of your experiences were like? Easier or harder than it seems? (It seems fairly difficult but easier/less competitive than downhill racing)

im making the transition from 100mm wide park skis to full blown race skis for this. Another adjustment that may be far more difficult than I’d imagined.

im looking for experiences that you guys have had, advice that I could use for the upcoming season, as well as some insight on what to expect and the money this is going to cost me (unsponsored)

Basically yall - am I going to get completely gapped or can a good park skier, natural hit booster like myself stand a chance against the Europeans

Guaranteed you come in dead last unless someone falls, but should still be fun. Just have zero expectations. Before you spend a ton on getting to comps and equipment and stuff, you should find a local course and see if you can borrow some skis and do some laps on a practice day where others can give you some pointers.

No offense, but you'll get annihilated. Most high level ski-cross racers are just regular racers who weren't quite good enough to make their country's national A or B teams.

That means europa-cup (AAA to the "Pro" World Cup) level ski-crossers were likely at least close to that level of regular ski racing.

Consider buying some cheap used FIS GS skis and spending a season or two on them. They do not ski anything like park skis.

I've always thought I'd be pretty good at skier cross too. Too bad you gotta already be rich to get into it and then there is no money in it.

Have you ever ski raced before? Seems like kinda a requirement to be good in skier cross
