Park ski for a tall/heavy dude

I'm looking for a new park ski, because I don't know how much my Fischer Guru's have left in them. Something with a low swing weight and durable enough to handle the 180s and railslides to forward that I can do. Need something that is big enough for someone who is 6'5", 220lbs

Hey man. We’re the same size, went through this struggle back in the park days. If you spend 100% of your time in the park, it’s gonna be tough to find the perfect fit. If you don’t mind going wider, the Faction CT 3.0 is solid. You could get away with the CT 2.0 188 but that’s up to you. I used to ride 190 Sir Francis Bacon’s as a park ski. This was 6/7 years ago, but had no complaints. You’re gonna be hard pressed to find a sub 100mm Park ski over 190cm. Good luck!

Hey man I would recommend to look on FactionSki they are doing some pretty good skis

Lol ya dude great advice. "HEY GUYS THIS BRAND GOOD! (gives no reasoning, gives no specific model, etc.)"

You just won my "Worst post I've read today" award.

Anyways OP, what size skis were you thinking? I'd say check out Icelantic Nomads (come in many sizes), check out ON3P (probably Kartels over the Magnus because of your size but that's your call), K2 Poachers, Armada's ARV line (also quite a few sizes available), etc. Personally I'd be looking at Kartels, Poachers and the Nomads over the ARVs but that's just my biases. All are good skis. Maybe you could rock something like Blends since they are so wide. I'm worried about the softness though.

Were you looking for a lot of rocker, a lot of camber, or a bit of both? The thing with a lot of rocker is that these days everyone is attempting to make a noodle when it comes to park skis that have a lot of it (other than a few exceptions).

To be honest, I don't really know what to look for in park skis. My pow and All-Mountain skis are pretty stiff charging skis, so I would be ok with some softness to kinda ride something different. I'm not a good park skier by any stretch, mostly just do simple rail slides and box slides, so I don't need something incredible. Right now I am riding my Fischer Gurus which are 178, and they feel a bit like snow blades, so all I really want for length is something longer than that, probably over 185.

On3p kartels are on the beefier side of a ski, and their 191 is true to length (longer than many other 191's)

Icelantic makes some bomber skis but may be on the softer side of the spectrum

K2's measure true to length as well, an old shreditor or new 184 poacher would do you well. (Similar length as most company's 188)

Buy reputable, buy long, and have a blast man. Anything will be an upgrade.

Awesome man thanks. TBH I never considered 100mm+ waist skis to be park skis before so this world is totally new for me. Now to save the money and start shredding.

Bigger skis have gotten more popular. You see a ton of 100mm+ park skis now.

Well I hit a bit of a curveball. I apparently get a crazy pro deal through Faction and am I'm kinda wondering how the CT 2.0 or 3.0 would work as a park ski

Honestly if youre looking for a park ski from faction the prodigy 1.0 in 187 would be sick. I would recommend a 2.0 but theyre sold out on the faction website so im guessing you cant get them on prodeal. Id probably pick the candide 3.0 over the 2.0 as i dont love symmetrical skis but a prodigy 1.0 or 2.0 would definitely be my first choice for the park ski. Skis with taper and directional sidecuts are alot more versatile and i prefer them to traditional symmetrical park skis going switch and forwards.

My only worry is that at 187 they won't be big enough for me.

I’m 6’5 200 and I’m fine on 180 Volkl revolt 86s which are pretty soft skis. They definitely could be longer when I’m landing switch nose heavy on big jumps but if you’re centered it’s not bad. Overly long skis will just be cumbersome in the park especially if you get wide ones. I like my 190 sir Francis bacons in the park but for cruising chill laps doing stuff I already have down not for an everyday park ski. Also they’re the ski Alex hall uses and he’s 6’4 180 off the us ski team website so I think they’ll handle it ok.

I believe it was brought up in an older very similar thread but ON3P can custom build Kartel 96's in a 191. Might be worth shooting Scott an email because that would be a dope setup for you bro.

That sounds perfect (and expensive) to me

That would be great, but I don't really have 900$ to spend on skis, at least with faction I get about 60% off

Total cost is worth considering. I've never been impressed with Faction's durability, I'm pretty sure their bases are made of damp tissues and I've seen more than a few blown edges and tip/tail delams come through the shop. A pair of ON3P's will last you longer with less maintenance.

I’ve see this as well. Factions ski great but the durability both in base and edge is lacking. I’ve never ridden them but have a couple friends with some serious base damage and another with edges falling out

Have to agree here too, work as a freestyle coach, see a lot of faction skis blow up, especially the tips recently with the new slices they put in the edge at the tip. On3p is far more durable. (I ride Kartel 98s)
