Park recommendations for Hokkaido Japan?

Hi guys,

looking for Park recommendations and experiences in Japan (particularly Hokkaido, the northern island). I'll be there for a month, and whilst I will be enjoying the sweet pow, it would be nice to have a little variety!

I'd say I'm an intermediate park skiier.

Thanks in advance :)

Depends what time if year you're here. It's generally late Jan before anything too decent is built.

Hanazono in Niseko has a very good park. Three decent kickers, mostly boxes in a jib area and a decent pipe.

Tomamu also is well known for its park. Mount Racey has a small park, but with a decent kicker line and fun jibs. Sapporo Kokusai also has a couple of really large hits.

In the spring, the best park on the island is at a place called Nakayama Touge. They only open in late march, but have a really sweet setup.

Give me a shout when you're in Hokkaido if you want to hit up some of the less well known spots.

Little known fact about Hokkaido - it doesn't dump all the time. Well, it kinda does from mid December to mid Feb. But through March into April, there are sunny days, periods without snow, and being very low altitude, it can get warm so the powder gets heavy and mashed pretty quick. In the spring, there's a deep base, so lots of snow to build good parks. An the Japanese are meticulous, they build and maintain parks really well.

Just cos it snows alot here, does that mean people who want to shouldn't ride park? They have a park at Whistler right!? That said, you'd be foolish to spend all day in the park on a January pow day.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I've been skiing pow in Japan about 6 times before so I do know what the deal is. Just haven't touched parks there yet, hence the question.
