Park Help

I'm terrible in the park and really want to learn a 360. What happens every time I try is I pop get halfway around fairly quick but then it's like I just lose momentum and I'm stuck with my back down the hill. I usually just end up landing like I did a 180. I try to keep my head and shoulders rotating around but doesnt seem like it happens. any ideas thanks guys

1) find a good jump that you're fairly comfortable with. i learned my first 3 on a medium sized tabletop jump

2) on the run in have a shoulder width stance, relaxed posture, and a good amount of body tension

3) when the fronts of your skis reach the lip of the jump, pop and look for the backs of your skis, your body will follow your head. KEEP LOOKING ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE ROTATION

4) spot your landing

5) land with your feet shoulder width apart (just like on the takeoff)

also before you try it listen to a sond that gets you super pumped (this helped me alot)

this is also pretty helpfull:

It's literally all in the head. Pretty much everyone has the capability to 3.

Commit and turn your head forcefully and just follow it, it'll happen naturally.

what helped me is find a land more off in the distance to find. nice even pop off both feet

make sure when you spin your spinning with your whole body not just your head (turn hips and shoulders as one)

find that landmark

ride off a heavy man or woman depending on your gender

Rotate your arms. Try it on flat ground. Windup and then whip your arms in the other direction. Keep your arms completely level. As your arms get in front of you turn your head with them to the other side. Look over your should until you see the landing and complete the spin. 180 to 360 is one of the biggest obstacles. For a 180 you can jump up in the air and 180. For a 360 you actually have to learn how to spin.

I'd recommend learning on something small that you're comfortable with. I would say something mellow and not to poppy to help you stay level. If you feel like it's not working go back to flat ground again. It's all in the windup and release. If you throw your arms level, and hold your head over your shoulder you'll keep spinning. 3-5 is another milestone but not as hard imo. For that you have to get used to NOT focusing on the landing when you come around 360. Where your head goes your body will go. If you lock your eyes on the landing at 270 your going to stop spinning at 360. If you want to 5, trust yourself and hold your head until you're about 450.

Keep practicing. One you figure it out it'll be NBD. Good luck

when you spin with just your head you get all penciled out. when you spin with your whole body its much more controlled. i highly doubt you just spin with just your head

Obviously not, but the head is what the body follows. When you say just spin at the hips it just like aerial spins back in the day, if anything the way you are saying is more pencily. Sounds all kind of forced to me!

Well I mean is keeping your skis right in front of you so when your head is at 360 your skis are not still at 300 but I don't mean attending straight up and down

Thanks for the help everyone. Also, maybe one thing I'm overlooking should I be loading up on the jump itself or should I only start spinning after I pop in the air.

You have to start on the takeoff. If you jump in the air you can move your arms all you want but it isn't going to help you spin. Your skis on the takeoff allows you to swing your momentum, as you lift off you keep turning and spin the 3 etc.

Like the toys where you pull the cord and the guy spins up into the air.

You want to start to pop as you start to rotate your arms and upper body. You should leave the ground just after you pass center. Try a bunch on the ground without your skis even to get a feel. Then do some on the ground with your skis.

I don't think anybody here has mentioned.....but once you are able to rotate a full 3, you're going to have another issue: landing backseat. When you learn, make sure to keep your hands well in front of your body. And making sure you get your pop off the lip also helps.

This is a big part, learning the spin process is something that isn't really neccesarily for a 180. A large bit of a 360 is getting the pop to be directional left/right, rather than just vertical up/down pop.

A good way to start with 3s is to get as far as you can with your head and shoulders but also pull your knees up to your chest so you have more time to spin.

When I first landed one I was doing it on an artificial jump which I just kept hitting over and over again. So find a jump which you are very comfortable on - you know the rough air time on it. For doing the 360, it's really whatever comes most naturally to you. I prefer spinning left. When coming up for the jump I stand with my legs shoulder width apart - slightly pizza'd. Hit jump. Turn shoulders 90 degrees and hold it there - as if you're trying to look as far behind you as you can. Hold this position until you spot you're landing. Stomp it. Once you get it you can start adding grabs and then higher rotations.

Set yourself a goal for the end of winter like unnatural/normal/switch 360 or even a 540. You'll have it in no time. Good luck!

Not only is it in pre rotating your arms, it's in your head position. Look as far to your right or left as you can (depends which way you spin). Just look for the landing and you'll get it.

i was like that for a while you think you cant do it but all it really takes is a larger jump and comiting to it everithing abouve is still realy good advice though
