smith maze, poc receptor bug, sandbox, smith holt are all good

I'd have to disagree with the sandbox dude. They have the equivalent head protection of plastic wrap. It wont protect you at all from serious hits that helmets are meant to protect you from. All of the other helmets you mentioned are really good though, i also recommend anon helmets.

Definetely get the giro shiv! They are lightweight and great protection, they've also got the round look to them unlike the maze or combyn. But ya if your looking for a cheap lightweight skateboard style helmet definetely go for the Giro Shiv.

Go to a shop and get the one that fits your head the best. Not all helmets are the same shape and can cause pressure points on your head, the opposite can also happen where maybe a medium fits you from one brand but another is way too big, neither situation is safe or what you want.

I would go for whatever fits best but the poc receptor bug is really nice and has a low profile look. The smith maze also has the low profile look, but i find that they get huge dents if you fall, always found that pretty sketchy

This and bring your goggles to try on with them especially if like a majority of ns'ers you wear your goggles underneath (bring beanie if you wear that too) ensures you find a good combo

Yeah I have one and it's crazy light. Especially with the ear pads taken out. Good choice.

Helmets are one time use, a helmet denting if you fall is it doing its job
