Park City Status

Hey, I am going out to PC with my dad and I am planning on skiing. Does anyone know if 3 Kings Park is open? I am hoping to just get a few turns in through there.

If you don’t know, park city is made up of two resorts basically, there’s a canyons side and a park city side, canyons side opened on Sunday and the pc side just opened today. There were no features today but they said terrain park soon, so possible this weekend, I’m going Friday-Monday regardless so if you see a tall boi in all black w some armadas and safety glasses come say what’s up. Hopefully they get a little rail line going or something I’d imagine they will for the weekend.

edit: btw the park is on the pc side but judging from what u said I’d assuming u knew that

Need cold temps to make snow for parks, not natural snow.

I wouldn’t expect any sort of features atleast until next big snowfall. We don’t have shit

Wrong. Man made snow is hard to pack a lot of the time for small lips onto rails. We also don’t even have the cold temps

Yeah, thats not how that works....

The only places making parks from man made snow are Mammoth and maybe some PNW places. Every other park in the nation is from man made snow. And yes, you need temps to make that snow.

PC has never relied on natural snowfall for any of their parks, ever.

I'll just double down here with skibum and object, natural snow helps but the base of every jump/pad/landing of every rail and jump at PC is man made snow. That's why the bomb holes suck.

But, when it snows they can blow snow too, so natural snow is always good for the park, but man made snow is most important for building up the park.

PC doesn't really "throw rails in" anymore, they used to set up a park on Homerun (the first run they open every year)but stopped a while ago, they don't open a park until they can open 3 kings which I'd be surprised if they got it open by this weekend, its so warm here.

Homerun park was awesome, especially the 3 pack, 10ft. jump line where everyone spun into oblivion. Welp, climate change and sucking the corporate dick. This is what you get. Small EC resorts will open with parks before Park City.

Climate change is real but on this one I’m gonna have to blame corporate. They’re taking away parks even with snow

Was at PC the other day and it felt light in terms of employees, but enough to run things. So I think that combined with less-than-ideal snowmaking conditions really put a dent in early season planning. They're making snow in the gully but it'll be a while before it's full-on Park lanes. May I suggest Woodward if it's open by then.

Alta/Snowbird opened with a shockingly decent amount of terrain and worth checking out
