Paper on problems that huge resorts cause

I am writing a paper on how the construstion of huge resorts around ski areas negatively effects the area, expecially for the people that live there year-round. Does anyone have any information on this kind of thing from relaible online sources?

its false. job opportunities, superior services, deflated prices on everyday items. ok, maybe a small market shop will be replaced with a supermarket and you have to put up with russians (verbier), but on the whole, all my friends who live up here all year round say its better now the resort is big, than when it was a dirt road and leather chairlift.

Personally, I think it is a lot better, but I thought it would be easier to write against it. Weird I know, but I don't think normally.

You could write about ngative environmental impacts like displaced wildlife and construction waste. Personally I think big resorts are an asset to everyone involved. I would write about positive impacts because they outweigh the negative.

Alright, the more i research/think about it, I realize that I should write on the positive impacts.

look into the huge controversy regarding Killington right now. After the sale from American Skiing Company to powdr and sp land and the debate over building condos and pass prices and the new company refusing to listen to or really respect the people who have been living there for years.

check out killingtonzone.com for a lot of threads debating/ talking about the situation over the last year or so. It's been interesting. hopefully that helps a bit, good luck.

I would focus on the environmental damage and spin it either way. Then add economic impact and tie it into the other.

it might be good to mention these things in like ur first paragraph, and then just rip on the resorts and write about all the problems they cause for the rest of the essay. teachers like it when you state both sides of the argument, just make ur side sound better.

Tourists, fuck them.

The other day waiting for the bus I saw a family come walking over, and one kid couldn't fit on the bench, so kindly i gave them my seat and stood for the next 15 minutes. The kind mother repays me by talking about how ridiculous my attire is, and she was acting like i couldn't hear her, She proceeds to say that kids who dress like that are looking for attention, and weren't brought up right.

/rant.

they pretty much only help

jobs, more money from tourists, and all that

also some hills are really environmentally sound

like i think copper runs its lifts partially maybe completly on wind power

wooooow dude, that's just plain rude. If that happened to me, in my head I'd be thinking okay.. I can either #1 blow the fuck up on this lady and use every possible curse word, slang, and atrocious saying I know.. or #2 I can act incredibly polite, mature, well spoken, educated, and ironically demeaning towards her to basically show I'm not a stupid punk and embarrass her at the same time. It would be so much fun to do number 1, but 2 would probably have a more profound affect on her.. unless she really is a dumb bitch. (Which she probably is.) anyway, what ended up happening?

This is very true, and obviously they're a much needed group, but in his case I don't know if it's so much tourists or close-minded people.

Yo Billek, The expansion that is coming your way is going to be a really good thing for Bell and you, I would think... Why no love? At your age, you should be able to establish yourself to capitalize on the impending growth easily. IMO you are in the right place at the right time.. lucky.

I really want the resort to go through, just I only saw negative stuff towards it so i decided to write about it for some reason. That's changed now, im gonna be pro-resort in the paper.
