Panterra 100?

anyone have experience to share with the dalbello panterra 100? looking for a new boot, tried on a few, panterra seems to fit the best but def need some work done by a boot fitter. But with all the features such as ski/hike mode...heel height adjustment...last adjustment 100~102.

I'm 160~170lb, 5'7, prob 50/50 between all mountain/park

any help appreciated.

sorry, left the sentence unfinished.

with all the features...is that a good thing or a bad thing? would you want a boot thats very simple and get the boot fitter to fit it well or a boot with many features for the boot fitter to tweak around? canting...heel elevator...100 to 102 last etc

bump

intersted to hear what work you believe you need doing to the boot?

As a boot fitter i'm not the biggest fan of the the boots. I get the feeling the variable last will lead to alot of people leaving the buckle set to102mm even if they have a foot closer to the 100mm just because its easier. I also think the boots weight considerably more than their main competitors ( I may be wrong, just based on a pretty crude test of holding boots up in the same size)

I'd much rather put somebody into a custom shell/memory fit that starts at its narrowest and then can be worked to create more room if needs be, than have a boot that is set to its widest straight out of the box..

thank you! this is the kinda response/opinion i was looking for. Like you said, i tried them on while having it buckled at 102. The boot fitter said the panterra 100 would prob fit me the best. I've tried some other boots such as FT descendants (but i can barely buckle up..seems like my calf is pretty wide), some salomon and rossignols as well. the descendants felt almost too comfortable, so prob not gonna consider that. As for where i think i need the panterra 100 to be worked on, the inner side of my ankle still feel a bit of pressure point, and heel seem to have a tiny bit of room ( maybe cause my heel and has barely any angle, if u know what i mean)

Are there other boots that you would suggest me to try out? I'll get fitted for sure, but just want to know a bit more about boot fitting.

ehhh in terms of dalbellos i think they make much better models with the same last and fit. i happen to ride the Lupo Sp Id and i love them so i love dalbello in general but the pantera 100 is built more like a really soft heavy big mountain boot that i just really dont like. if you like the fit id try out the Krypton Fusion as its got a similar fit and is made for park and all mountain

ps i work at a shop so im not completely clueless in my opinions

The kr fusion is a 98mm last vs the 100-102mm last of the panterra so it doesnt really fit into the same category, its also a freeride boot as apose to an all mountain boot, not that it really matters but yeah, you might want to rethink your last statement there bud.

Obviously its difficult to reccomend boots without having a proper look at your feet first but just of similar boots you could look at:

if the hike and ride feature something you'd like to keep? The Rossignol all track pro 100 might be worth looking at. 100m last 100 flex, slightly lower volume than the panterra.

if you dont mind about the hike and ride mode. Atomic hawx 100. Its a memory fit shell so out of the box it is 100mm last but if you chuck them in the oven you have the option of stretching out to a 106mm last boot.

The salomon xpro 100 features an almost identical technology in custom shell. again out of the box at 100mm can expand to 106mm.

You should also be talking to your bootfitter about custom footbeds. They'll not only improve fit of the boot but also peformance because you'll have a much greater proportion of your foot in contact with the boot which means greater control.

hmm...the krypton fusion is measured at 98 last...although i did fit in the FT drop kicks..but i think its too far off from my D width foot. thx for input though!

Also you could look at the lange xt100 (make sure you dont go for the lv version as this will be narrower and lower volume)
