i hate to be the bearer of burdens but use the searchbar! There are way to many threads on this site about finding a good camera to start out with...so just type in what your looking for and browse the different threads. From what i've heard and seen, panasonic generally makes quality product, and alot of the professional film companies (PBP, Rage, and possibly a few others) use the panasonic HVX or DVX100A or B; so they defenitely make good quality cameras. Im a member of the filmmakers cult, and there is tons of stuff in there to help you figure out what to get, im not sure who you message to invite but once again searchbar it.

ALSO

check out: skateperception.com and snowperception.com they are both quality forums with lots of "buy and sel"l as well as "beginner guides" and "what to buy if you are a beginner" types of threads.

goodluck with your camera hunting

^ yea and most of those threads recommend a panasonic pv-gs500 if you are looking for a less expensive good quality camera.

yeah the gs500 is a super legit cam for the money. also check out the canon hv20, its a hi-def cam for relatively cheap

the main thing i dont like about the panasonic you posted was that it records to an sd card, i still personally think that tapes is the way to go until they get hard disc drive or anything else dialed.
