Panasonic HDC-SD9 SDHCmemory HD camcorder?

I found this camercorder on ebay and it seems fairly legit, so i may buy it.

But i was wondering if anyone knows if this camera is good. The camera that i have currently is terrible so im looking for something with pretty good quality video.I can spend about 650$(canadian) so im open to suggestions. I also dont know much about computers/cameras so i was wondering, if i get an HD camera, does my computer need any special programs or anything? (right now i use windows movie maker to edit but im hoping to actually get a good program soon)

Please help.
 
I checked out some peoples test vids on vimeo and the quality looked pretty good, so now im basicly just wondering about my computer. Will I need any special programs for it to work? And whats a decent editing program that it will work with that doesnt cost too much?
 
BUMP: I know theres some camera genious's on here.

It says that it comes with HD writer 2.0E software, so that should make it work on my computer?
 
you can get a canon hv20/hv30 which is pretty danm good value. as far as editing programs go sony vegas is a good program if your just starting out.
 
Ok, i have made the decision to go with the Panasonic HDC-SD100 which is a better model of the one that i was originally thinking of buying. My computer has 512MB of ram( i dont know if thats alot or not) and i have WMM for editing. I talked to one of my friends with an HD camera and he says his WMM works with it so i'll stick with that till i get the $$for an actual good program. And the camera comes with some HD writing software(whatever that is) so that sounds like it will help.

Your going to need more ram than that.. Im running 4gb and Im using SD video..

And I would take the time to learn a program other than WMM..
 
you man when you get your sd100 lets talk since i got one too and i got some questions its a good camera though man might wana upgrade the ram its not that expensive but thats what i herd i got 2gigs and it works ok good luck with it hit mew up if you got anyquestions
 
FUCK! Im having some problems with BHphoto.com , i go to pay for it with my paypal and it says the address isnt confirmed and you need a confirmed address on paypal to buy something from there so then i looked on paypal and it said it cant confirm adressess outside of the US (im in canada) so i guess i cant actually get that.

So now im thinking of getting The Sony HDR-CX100. any good?
 
I know it ships to canada but to use paypal to pay you need to have your paypal shipping address confirmed which at this time cannot be done for people outside of the states. And i dont have a credit card. At first my dad was gonna use his credit card to pay and i was just going to pay him back but at the end of checkout and stuff there's a visa security thing where you have to enter a password and he doesnt want to, I told him that BH is completely legit but he wont do it.

I dont buy shit for the full price.. I got my WD 500 gig external a year and a half ago for $100..

I know you can get 1tb for $100 now, but the standard was around $200 for 500 gb last year..
