I have a Panasonic VDR-D230 DVD camera, and as of today I fucking hate it.

In my intro video course, we we're supposed to edit shots we recorded. I couldn't get one shot on final cut pro. Everytime I tried to drag files off the disc into final cut, it would say: error unknown file type. The only program it opened with was DVD previewer.

Also if I don't finalize the disc, the disk turns up empty. But when I do finalize it, I can't use it anymore. I feel like i'm wasting time and money on this crap.

Maybe I can get help from experienced users because I don't understand how this shit works.

Also considering selling or trading for non DVD versions.

The thing with the unknown file format in FCP is because it is actually an unknown file format to FCP. You need to transcode it to something FCP can work with.

Also I would never trust a consumer camera that uses optical disks, and the thing about having to "finalize" the disks each time is pretty iffy. I'd consider another camera if I was you.

honestly I really want a new one, the problem is I have a project due on Tuesday and I need to make this camera work, especially since I already have the footage.

+K to anymore help on how to get this to work.

Start calling your friends, you have a shitty camera that will take too much work to actually use. What motivated you to buy this camera?

I just tried to open the files with SVP and I'm having the same problems.

the files come up as BUP, IFO, VRO files.

The one with the footage is .VRO

I'm using a new disk that is rewritable this time, still having the same technical problems though.

How can I convert the VRO files into something FCP or SVP can use?

Please any help will be +K and my unconditional love. I NEED HELP!

Yeah I've heard of VRO, one of my friends had the same problem.. All you need is a converter, just search on google VRO to .mov converter or .avi or whatever you want to work with (never used FCP so I'm not too sure what's the best format to work with) you should get a bunch
