How does one paint their skis? Would you be able to just spray paint it and let itr be and it wouldnt come off? Or do you need some laminant or something?

Yeah - someone on powdermag posted:

Prep the skis by using 600 grit sandpaper & water, then spray with an automotive enamel. (This will hold up better than regular krylon type paint). Auto paints available at the auto parts store, or an auto-body shop. Folks have used acrylic paints for doing fancy artwork stuff, but for display only not out on the hill.

Another thread said you can go to a car body shop and have them sprayed. The guy said a buddy of his had his guitars painted there for $20.

You can use spraypaint straight on your skis, but make sure to clean them and know that it comes off easily. It's also hard to make them look 'good', but if you're going for the ghetto look, it's not a bad start.

i just straght painted my darksides, but the paint comes off really easy, but i didnt sand paper them. and with the pink that i used, any little chip is really easily noticed

all you have to do is buy a can of the pink and a can of clear spray. put all the pink on in coats, then use the whole can of clear spray generously on the whole ski. DO NOT skimp on the clear spray, you will regret it later. i used this exact method on my skimboard, and skimboards take a lot of scratches, so your skis will probably be fine.

but i think no matter how well you do it, crossing your skis is still going to scratch them

forum boards come with stencils to spray paint them, but i guess you wouldnt have to worry bout your boards crossing
