Painting bindings

I have some look pivot 14s and i want to know if i can paint them. The green is gonna look shitty compared to the new Halos im getting and i want to paint the bindings matte black to match everything up. Would spray paint work? if not what method should I use if any? thanks -canyon

 
I would strongly reccomend painting your bindings, certain paints will corrode the plastic on your bindings and also when one considers the intracacies of your bindings with all the components, do you want to risk getting paint in there. If paint was to get into any of the mechanical parts of your bindings, there is always the chance it will screw with the release of your bindings.

I am almost certain painting will void the warranty on your bindings and certain shops may be reluctant to mount them. So your resale potential will be significantly reduced.

That being said people have done it, by carefully selecting the type of paint and conver the DIN cover and all other areas of the binding they dont want painting with tape.
 
*strongly recommend not painting your bindings. I agree with the above statement. nobody cares that your bindings don't match your skis but you and its not worth changing the colour of them for the risk of damaging the mechanism and potentially your knees.
 
I agree, its a terrible idea, but if youre going to do it anyways

don't use paint, it wont stick really well, you want to use dye, you cant submerge the springs in the dye/hot water mixture though, so remove all the plastic parts you can and then dye those.

I don't recommend it, but if I were going to, I would RIT dye it. You can find some tutorials of people dying boots and stuff and I'm guessing it would be similar. You could probably disassemble it and just dye the plastic.
 
Dying them sounds like a bad idea in my mind, and so does spray paint. Both for mechanical reasons.

I'd just leave them and say fuck it, skiing isn't a fashion show now matter how many kids on here make it out to be.

BUT if you really wanted to give them a once over you can always go out and buy a bunch of paint markers, art supply stores stock them and they can be more expensive than a can of paint for some odd reason. You won't get paint in areas you don't want if you properly use it and touch ups are a breeze, which is good because I imagine there to be a lot.

 
yes because we all know that dying metal works really well...

i would use plastic dip with a nice clear over it to seal. Its like a vinyl wrap and teamed with the clear works decently and is noncorrosive.
 
I painted my orange fks and they look dope...I sold em too because of the paint job . I painted them black with spray paint then chromed them with gloss
 
Maybe use colored adhesive foil, like it's used on car parts. This shouldn't affect the mechanical parts in any way.
 
I would personally never fuck around with my bindings with paint, dye or anything of that kind. The risk of messing up bindings is way to high. Whether it be the chemicals in the paint or heat from dying, you run a pretty high risk of damadging something that you rely on for safety.
