Pack color?

Just curious if anyone puts any thought into pack color when you purchase? Most of the time, black is the only option, but in my case I have some options. I've heard the argument that brighter colors are better from a safety/emergency standpoint (being seen, signaling).

I'm continuing to research a new combo AT/backpacking pack and the model I'm considering (Mystery Ranch Glacier) has 3 options - a burnt orange, a midnight blue, and muted/earthy green. I'm leaning toward the orange but was hoping to get some input..

Thanks!

Pack color, for me, has no impact on safety/performance.

Bright clothing is a huge bonus when traveling in white out conditions or through the tree line. If you are buried in an avalanche, bright clothing will help rescuers identify you as a person and not just a piece of debris.

I always go for either a bright orange/red or something with noticeable bright accents like lime green. I always run a black helmet so a bright jacket and pack make all the difference.
