PA Mountains Opening- Who's going

Anything open or close to it in Poconos will probably be closed, down to dirt, almost square 1 after this weekend. Good times.

Blue is closed and looks to be making tons of snow - I hope they make it.

It was borderline last night. 26° wet bulb. They made dust. Tonight similar. Tomorrow night decent. But the warm up and rain next 5-7 days will delete all progress

I think they will again surprise us capability-wise. If they really thought there was no point and your statement were true they wouldn't be wasting time blowing.10-day forecast is only about 50% dependable and predictions seem to be erring on the high side of actuality. Hoping for the best!!

Do you go to liberty? Imo the only parks in PA that are really worth it are 7 Springs, JFBB (back in their prime, last year their parks sucked now that they’re owned by vail), bear creek, and blue mountain.

I’ve never heard anything great about liberty or round top, but I’ve also never been

Boulder looked pretty decent last year besides no Boulder park. Love and freedom looked good as ever.

Rumor has it no freedom this year tho either, just love, central?, and plaza.

I’m doing the same at my ski area. Trying to stockpile what I can before rain and warm. It’s a gamble in this area if it keeps around or melts. It’s rough this year so far.

It bugs the shit out of me that vail posts opening dates for the mid Atlantic resorts like it's supposed to mean something. They should at least word it "anticipated opening day"

There is a new GM over JFBB this year. For whatever that means.

I think everyone on this site sees the direction of Vail Resorts park program

But Big Bounder overdid it in my opinion. 2 parks at that mountain are more then enough. Even 1 trail is fine really. Freedom is their learning/beginner hill, no park should be there. I remember racing on that trail their big park was on in mid 90s. Love park and they bottom side of it seem like the best trail and option for park from a business/mountain ops standpoint

Glad to hear things turned around. I went early season and the park conditions were pretty bad - rails poorly set, rails rusting, and there was just nobody there on a weekend. They had plenty of snow but only freedom and plaza were open. Overall just had an off experience which I never had in years prior. Decided to just stick with bear creek since I only live like 30 mins away

Cool opinion but Big Boulder is so tiny it's pointless to be anything but a majority terrain park mountain. It will immediately be blown out of the competition by other mountains if it wasn't owned by Jack Frost. Also, that's why Jack Frost only ever had one park named "One Park"

I know it pains you all when Vail cuts back terrain parks, but there’s this thing called profit and loss, and that’s what counts.

Big Boulders park was cut back last year, year one of Vail. Don’t expect it to get better.

And I will stand by my statement of they over did it when Peaks owned them. Peaks didn’t know what a P&L was, hence why they almost went bankrupt, had EB5 investors and then big pharma out of no where backing them…then Vail buyout

Terrain parks don’t make money. Sure they place was sick back in like 2008-2014, but it’s not a profitable strategy. That place needs to cater to college kids (most don’t ski park) - day trips from local towns and weekend skiers from NYC. Then push them out west with Epic pass
