owner of snowbird wants to mess with nature up here. strip mining is bad news.

http://www.uvureview.com/2009/09/28/snowbird-supporting-dirty-coal/

even if you dont believe in global warming or the idea that certain

things contribute to climate change/etc, thats irrelevant to the fact

that it will pollute and destroy the mentioned habitat and have the

mentioned effects up here.

also weird that the owner of a good/popular resort is potentially

contributing to negatively effecting winters, not to mention hurting

wildlife/habitats, being that skiing/snowboarding has everything to do

with the outdoors.

sorry if this is a repost - i rarely come here and am only in the AK forum.

right when i saw "Utah Chapter of the Sierra club" it cemented the idea that this was complete liberal whiny ass bullshit. Do you know how many thousand of pages of EPA tests the mining engineers have to go through before the engineers can start designing, none the less break ground. Not to mention the fact that they pulled out the bullshit 27 million tons burned, yet failed to mention that is over the life of the mine, which isnt even able to be calculated initially. Have you even looked at the empirical evidence that global warming is inevitable? We're coming out of a fucking ice age. The CO2 that we pump out isnt even enough to budge the empirical percent that the earth is warming by a percent man.

But hey dont listen to me, go ahead and hop on your little liberal, obama, capitalist hating band wagon.

hooooly moly. that sure assumed a lot about me, based on me saying almost nothing.

i am not a "liberal obama capitalist hater" by any means. sure, if i HAD to be put into a political category, i am more liberal, but i basically never get involved in politics and follow no bandwagon.

i wasnt even personally focusing on the"global warming" issue or whatever you want to call it.

but it is true that its going to hurt the land, no? if theyre tearing up the ground in some way, cause thats what mining is in some way or another, thats a negative for habitats and the animals that live there. thats what i didnt like. im not even getting involved or protesting anything. this is a messageboard where people talk about things, link people to places/issues that are related to something they may be interested in or something happening in their neck of the woods, etc etc etc, so on and so forth. thats all this was. and yeah... im not "for" this mining, but there was no reason to make comments like that, especially since they were complete assumptions. but i guess i cant blame you. you already dont like this person you "know" via internet, so youre much more likely to find a way to negatively react to something i write or post.

yeesh.

dude. you are a jackass. in almost every encounter i've had with you on this website, youve said something, acted like you didnt say it, then went on some morals ramble and made yourself sound like a complete ass.

"also weird that the owner of a good/popular resort is potentially

"i wasnt even personally focusing on the"global warming" issue or whatever you want to call it."

get a fuckin life man.

It would be interesting to read more on this, other than a completely liberal piece of opinion riddled with much greater amount of skepticism than it is with actual solid facts. (God knows where Mr. West retrieved the numbers he used from in the first place.)
While it is by no means surprising, it is noteworthy that the author fails to mention the amount of stimulus that the mining would provide to the economy of Alaska, where these dramatic environmental effects will supposedly be accrued and have the greatest amount of traceable impact.
