What’s the deal with people

trying to sell pivots for nearly the same price they got them for with 30 days super chipped and scraped up. For like 20$ more I can get a brand new pair.

Yeah, it is super crazy down there. I priced a new Harley when I was in Australia last September and about fell over seeing the price!

oops forgot to answer....Look around Facebook or online warehouse sales though. Some of my homies were able to snag some cheap pivot bindings off some weird kinda sketchy sites haha

An overpriced Harley!!!??!!? I've never heard of such a thing. How is my pirate dress up costume going to be believable down under?

Seriously have you priced harleys anywhere vs the competition?

Oh I do agree with you! And the pirate costume remark is funny shit, I make fun of all of them wearing their dead cows.

And yes, I am in sort of a way a bike collector. I would like to think that I am familiar with the competition and somewhat familiar with the market. I had to go into HD in Australia to get a shirt for the father in law( I grab him one every country I go) and when I seen the price of a 2018 Fat bob i almost shat myself.

Lived in NZ all my life, every piece of ski gear I own is shipped in from wherever I can find the cheapest price except boots which cost me $1200 NZD, about $800 USD including custom footbeds. Got Pivot 18s shipped from conrad sports in germany for about $250 USD last year. The really costly shit in NZ ski market is avo gear like $550 USD for a tracker 3 at some places. Ofc mine came from a random climbing shop in Spain for $250 USD shipped. And since most things I buy is under $400 NZD inc shipping theres no duty (except clothing)

Definitely worth the price if you put a lotta hours into skiing, they're pretty durable besides the brakes, those things bend too easily. 18s I recommend more than the 14s though, had a lotta prerelease issues with pivot 14s.

I think the difference between Aus and NA is the culture. In Aus, skiing is seen as a pretty elite past time. Lift tickets are dummy expensive for the terrain and snow. I grew up in Vancouver before moving to Aus a while ago and in Van it was kind of just something my mates did. We bought skis used, saved for a seasons pass and it was reasonably affordable. In Aus I don't think I'd ever have gotten into it. Besides having piss poor selection on what skis you can get most of the time, I wouldn't look to spend any less than $900AUD (~$630usd) for skis alone (those are a pair of rustler 10's). The used market is even ridiculously expensive most of the time.

It's a scary thing when it's cheaper to buy gear form the UK and get it shipped to Aus (freezeproshop is pretty damn ill). That's why I usually buy most of my gear on prodeals when I'm over working in Canada. Probably not doing that for a while because I'm doing school. Might not be able to ski for a while so I'm mega not stoked bruh.

Tldr: Aus skiing is stupid expensive and i'm mad.

Yeah, I heard you can get some really cheap Saga gear through those.

Honestly the days of insane eBay finds are over. Everyone is now keenly aware of what they have and what it was worth new before they sell it and they will try to get as close to retail as they can. It’s really dumb and it’s not just happening to Pivots, it’s happening to everything. Overvalued used things are littering all selling websites for all things and making good deals harder and harder to come by.

If you are shopping for Pivots just keep looking. I recently bought a new pair of Pivot 18s in excellent condition for 200. Not an extreme deal by any means but it was among the cheapest I had seen. And they were in the color I wanted in almost new condition.
