Out of the loop: When did Champion become cool?

Just saw that Jiberish put the Champion logo on their latest crews. When did they become cool in streetwear? When I was in HS that was the cheapest and worst fitting stuff you could get.

I was really wondering the same thing.

When I was in HS there was a Champion outlet about 11 miles from my town. Stuff there was really super cheap like just a couple bucks for most things. It was good quality stuff and the pro athletes actually wore it but still basically everyone thought you were poor and probably shopping at the outlet if you were wearing it.

My indoor soccer coach was pretty cool and he bought us a whole set of matching shirts there from a cheer leading camp and let us decide between those and some plain t shirts. Since the other teams tried to talk trash about our uniforms anyways we voted for the cheerleading shirts and proceeded to get in brawls with almost every team and spent a lot of penalty box time that season. Good times.

I noticed it alot too,

use to be a meh costco brand I remember... I had a few pairs of their socks but the shirts seemed to cheap at the time

someone please solve this riddle

supreme champion collabs = hype

i like champion stuff. Seems to be nice thick and warm. But you wont catch me buying an 80 dollar champion hoodie from urban outfitters when you could have bought the same thing from walmart for 19.99 8 years ago

Champion is a lot like carhart. Cheap but good quality (for the price). I had a coal hat that was $50 bucks. That hat fell apart in a month. Still rocking my $10 carhart hat that I bought 4 years ago.

It kinda sucks that the hypebeasts are gonna turn another decent brand to the darkside.

champion is stylish but that shit dont matter. shit is comfy as heck have sweatpants and hoodie shit is top quality and not that expensive.

They started making their hoodies insanely comfy and basic looking with a decent embroidered logo and then it caught on somehow

Carhartt is popular because their clothes are indestructible. This is why back when I worked as an apprentice for a carpenter, all the people working in construction wore Carhartt. Also Nike, Eminem, and Carhartt did a collaboration and made a 25k pair of Jordan 4s.

My carhartt jacket has lasted around 10 years. Just recently starting to look ratty so thinking about buying a new one.

Its all from the Kardashians bruh, nothing else. Once they started wearing it especially Kylie, the brand became very popular especially in pop culture and teens. Same thing happened with Thrasher, Vans, stussy, and most big streetwear. There is honestly like 25 people who influence trends, once they get recognized everyone is hopping on.

Carhartt has really caught on at Mt. Snow. just ask Ian Compton.

The biggest trend at mt snow is having Factions, but i did see a handful of carhartt beanies and overalls today.

it's basically a hipster thing. walk into an urban outfitters the past couple years and you'll see Champion stuff (for retarded prices). this is just jiberish doing the same thing basically

This is exactly how I felt when I went to australia. A couple brands were like this. I was like “$90 ($120 AUD for champion?! This shit is $25 back home!”

I know this is old, but it's here.

Champion wasn't cool in the 90's. It was never "cool" until now.

I will never consider it cool.

Champion is cool for kids who wear neon yeezys and call anyone who isn’t exactly like them gay as a insult or the fslur
