That was lame, I thought you were going to off road or at least do a canyon run. Nice car though, I was going to get a WRX but the insurance is too high because of people like you, so I got a GTI instead, which is faster anyway.
 
I could have sworn I saw a stock comparison drag race with the GTI winning to but I just looked at the WRX's 0-60 and that can't be right. Top speed on the GTI is 15mph higher as well.
 
Well thats the 09 models I'm talking 05-08, and I'm fairly sure the GTI is faster than the WRX on Top Gear which has Micheal Shumaker (sp?) setting the lap times instead of a woman.
 
oh well doesnt matter lol there both sick cars. was going to get a GTI but a WRX fell into my hands and i had to pick it up
 
Yeah it would have been cool but the insurance is outrageous and on the GTI is really low for how fast it is. Really, really wanted a Cobalt Turbo SS but couldn't find one anywhere, and I couldn't lease a MS3 + too much HP for FWD anyway, GTI easier to live with.

If I had a WRX I would just off road it and flip it anyway.
 
Well that just doesn't even make sense, an STI has like 100 more hp than a GTI and its 4wheel drive. Only thing I can think of is you didn't get a quote for someone under 25, and you found a rare insurance company that still has the STI classified the same as a WRX.

The difference for me was huge it was like $800. The Speed3 was like half way in between.
 
problem is the sti is better than the wrx.. so i dont know why you keep comparing the gti to the wrx..

and to all you disagreeing with this post, ive gotten rapped by GTI's. Both in my car and my friends 12 second STI
 
I used Esurance, i'm 18 years old. This all the way through from minial to standard to most coverage.both '05's btw. Oh and it's tha same diffrence all the way through it just gets more as the year is newer.

i paid 17500 for my 2004 cobra with 35k miles..and it merks sti's.
 
gti's put out what 200 now and were at 175 before they redid it, its a gulf on steriods, my 9-3 would wouldnt smoke, but would still beat a stock mk4 gti
 
TOTALLY different cars...put the cobra on a dirt track with and sti and then the sti would win. put the sti on a drag strip and no doubt the cobra will win..... that being said there 2 totally different cars but both are sick
