In the edits/shorts section, and possibly the best one at that, I noticed that a lot of people are starting and going to use songs that where used in ski movie teasers such as the 17 Years song. Now my question to those kids is that is it so friggen hard to find an original song to use? It's cool and everything if you're having fun with it but to be honest if you want to have any chance of progressing as a film producer/editor/ whatever you seek, you need to learn to seach and find original songs because if you just re-use the same ones already out there it just takes away the impact from the film.

 
I doubt alot of these people are tryign to do something progressive in the editing aspect. They are just probably trying to show some footy to a cool song.

its quite simple actually. most of the kids on here listen to the same shitty music so they have to steal from video makers who, funny enough, stole it from a skate or snowboard video.

it seems like this stage of life for a lot of people around our age is like when you are playing a video game and you beat the Final Boss, only to find out that it was just a decoy Final Boss and the real Final Boss is ten times stronger. and you used all of your life and special powers on the decoy.
 
Yeah but he's right, there's sort of an unwritten law that you shouldn't use a song once it's already been edited in a video. I know that the little shorts around here aren't anything incredibly progressive with a lot of impact, but still, there's millions of songs out there - why pick the one that joshb just used?

yup that's right, there're enough ssongs to use. but sometimes i think, it just isnt cuz of being mildly retarded, but it's also happened i really like a song and the suddenly i ear it on a ski movie, or also when you hear a song in a ski movie and think 'goddamn i want this song'

but ya, most of the time it's just people being unoriginal
