Ordering Lens from Hong Kong

Has anyone ever ordered a lens from Hong Kong? I was looking to order one from eBay that says it ships out of Hong Kong. As I was looking though all the information, I noticed this little bit of information . Is this why the lens is so cheap on eBay?

shouldnt be that bad..i bought a glidecam from canada and got slammed with a 60 dollar shipping note at my door

What lens is it? I know a lot of the Japanese and Hong Kong ebay companies will do their best to help you avoid taxes on items, by noting them down as gifts etc. Have a look around, and send them an email, see what they say. I ordered a 60d from Hong Kong and they noted it as a gift with a lower value and I had to pay like £15 taxes, for a £720 order.

I ordered two flashes from Hong Kong, they were $65 shipped each and I didn't have any duty, but I think that's because each item was under 100 dollars.

Yeah thats what I was reading, im trying to order a Tamron 17-50 which is about $365 on eBay.

i actually got it from "brentizzle" or whatever his name is on ns..403media guy, for like 260 i believe..dont remember at all, but it wasnt a great deal

Is it new? Id be a little skeptical ordering it at that low of a price from hong kong
