Opinions about mount sunapee

What do you guys think of mount Sunapee? I only ski there because i live 5 minutes away, but do any of you guys actually drive far to come up here? Honestly, its a pretty mediocre mountain, but it's got some nice aspects to it.

When I lived in nashua I would visit once or twice a year. Its a decent sized area that wasn't too far away. I like sunapee more than gunstock which was my other no to far from home option.

the park can be nice but i feel like it gets icy real quick. if i stay in concord id rather go to pats peak.. never crowded and nice park

We have a new park director this year at Gunstock who says he is planning on focusing more on small to medium features to go along with us being a learners mountain, so if your are in that skill range keep an eye out. Ill post some updates about it once we are up and running.(disclaimer - I am an instructor at Gunstock)

Sunapees not bad, althought the tickets have gotten kind of high for what it is the last few years.

I liked it when I went there a few years ago. I don't know how their parks are, but they have a lot of really fun trails. A small NH mountain that's worth a visit.

i would enjoy skiing sunapee more if they would would move their park. its nice that is away from the general crowd but the entire mountain is a blast so if it was accessable from the highspeed quad that would make it killer. other than that is a great place to ride, especially of weekdays

havn't been in a couple years, but for the 4 or 5 years I went frequently the park never changed so it got lame after a while. The park is rather flat/hard to get speed, and its conveniently placed right next to the beginner section so to allow for gapers galore to flow into the park.

but it is great in the sense that you have a park lift and can hot lap for days, and parking is close and easy (most of the time).

Meh its alright. I mean asides from the park its boring af. Glades blow. No steeps. Icy af. But good parks

let me be the first to say, this year it seems as though the park crew is stepping up their game. they finally got out of their routine of putting every feature in the same spot year after year. and for this time of year they have some good size jumps and nice rail lines and it can only get better from here.

Good to hear! I think I'm visiting in late Feb with Brady P, I hope its sweet. I've never been to Sunapee.

Anyone gonna be there on Thursday or Friday? Brady and I are gonna be shooting. Hows the park been?

When we went there about two weeks ago their park was pretty sick! Tons of fun jibs and rails, decent jumps but pretty small. Looked good though overall.

I love Sunapee. I travel 6 hours from NJ to go there every year. I was there a couple of weeks ago and the conditions were sick and there was so much fresh powder.

I was on Park Crew at Sunapee 6 years ago and haven't skied there again until this year. Although it is a fun time, it needs vast improvements. Build quality is not very good, and the jumps are never made correctly (tiny kickers to short, flat landings) 6 years ago I could tolerate it, but by now even a small hill like Nashoba can make a jump correctly. Ill be back up there soon and see if they have stepped up anything, but i doubt it.

I wasn't in a groomer, and they didn't care to listen to a skier. The skill on building just wasn't there.

I do the majority of my skiing here and the park seems to be the same every year but still fun. They also have a fun skier cross trail. Anyone planning on riding here much this winter?

Yeah Ill try to get there at somepoint, They dont take instructor reciprocity at all on weekends though which makes it tough.

Im glad someone wrote this and i was always wondering about sunapee since my family lives less than 20 minutes from their. If anyone is interested in going this season DM me. TO either ski park or the entire mountain.

Sunapee gets boring fast. As one of the kids who goes there every weekend, I can say that they need to step up their jump game dramatically. The rails I do like, but they need to put more variety in and mix things up. If you don't change things up, atleast do a good job of maintenance, but it hasnt happened for the past 3 years. I will say that if you know where to look, Sunapee has some of the best all mountain I have ever skied. Powder still around a week after a storm, rad cliffs, sick woods jibbing and some gnarly glades that you can't fuck around on. I am excited to have a SNP pass this year because of the Okemo park.

That park is gona be legit this year since they are bringing in some pro designers to make it more efficient and better. Stoked to hit Okemo this year

I live in Concord and that's where I went most of the year last season. It's worth the 45 min drive in my opinion. It's a little flat and boring for my liking, not much natural features, but overall solid mountain. Usually on point with the groomers. Seems to always have a consistent feel every time I go back.

The jumps seemed ok when I was there, although I am not much for them. Their rail game was on point as fuck though.

I talked to one of the park managers last weekend (2 new managers) and sunapee is gona be a completely new park this season with weekly insta edits, bigger jumps, new rails, and more creativity so now I'm stoked

Actually so true. Right side has some tight rail features (triple waterfall, smooth S rail, 50ft flat bar, box options). Left side has a rad 3 jump line, his/her options, and some nice rails at the bottom.

Only complaint is that park crew seems to not know exactly what an urban on is... A couple of rails have true urban on, but a fair amount of technical features have jumps that are as high as the rail. Not ride ons though.
