Opinion on Knee injury

I washed out the otherday, and as my knee bent inwards and I felt a pop. the knee didnt really swell, and it feels decently stable, just hurts to bend. The doctor did all tests and said I most likley didnt tear any of the ligaments, and instead might have just strained them or torn some minsicuss (he suggested a recovery time of about three weeks). I was just wondering if anyone thought there knee wasn't hurt too bad when in actuality it was.

Well before i thought my knee was okay and after 3 weeks went in and i had torn a muscle. but do whatever your doctor says for sure

Just have them go in there and clean the meniscus up. I had the same exact thing happen to me. Unfortunately my entire meniscus tore and kinda "flipped" over, so they opted to repair it instead, which is a 6 month recovery. Consider yourself lucky, its a quick three weeks! I've heard of ppl basically walking out of the hospital after the quick meniscus surgery.

If you have the funds, and this is your first knee injury, get an MRI and a second opinion. MRIs are not 100% accurate but can give you a better idea of what is going on inside your knee with out having to get surgery. Also, now is the time to get your leg/body strong.

^this. my doctor mis-diagnosed my torn acl and meniscus. after 2 months of pain I finally had an MRI done and they found the tears in my ligaments

so if the pain goes away and the swelling goes down should i assume the knee is starting to heal?

my friend was first diagnosed with a sprained knee and then the next day he couldnt walk it hurt so much turns out he torn his ACL (this was basketball though)

Okay man not trying to be a dick but this is a website...you should just go to a doctor and trust what they say. Tell them everything you feel, get some mri's and a second opinion like the other kid said. But in the end, go with the doctors recommendation for you, not some stranger on NS.

dont antagonise it. i had a bad knee, kept going on it and ended up spending tons on physio and couldnt do much for quite a while. just rest till it feels stronger.

yeah i had a similar injury around thanksgiving time where i hyper-extended my knee and it popped. I stayed off it a couple days and it was feeling way better after a couple weeks. I went out riding this friday and on the second run of the day off a small ass jump it popped again and completely gave out. Get it checked out and stay off it for at least a few weeks. My season is pretty much over after two runs and I will most likely need surgery.
