I haven't seen another thread on here abou this, but opera is now available as an iPhone app. First impressions of it are really good. It's fast and the tabbed browsing interface is probably better than safari. Also has the speed dial page which is a nice way to navigate common bookmarks. You can also turn image downloads off to save bandwidth, or scale image quality back.

It's fairly big news for iPhone apps because it isn't using the safari engine, it uses operas own engine, which I think is a first for the iPhone.

Speed increases come from data compression, which also reduces the amount of mobile data consumed. But if you're interested in that sorta stuff there's alot of info on the net about it.

Check it out anyway, it seems pretty sick sofar!
 
tried it out, didn't like the zoom, and didn't seem any faster than safari for me. also i don't like how you can't watch videos. once it updates i'll try it again
 
The zoom takes a bit of getting used to, but it shouldnt be long before its smoother.

Ive mainly noticed the speed difference on mobile data, there isnt much difference if youre using wifi.

I guess with 1 million downloads already updates wont be far away
 
true, i haven't tried it on a non wifi connection. i'll replace safari in my bar for a week or so and see if i like it
 
I could understand how it may not be as nice on a larger screen but I have a nokia e71 and the zoom is awesome, makes looking at a whole page so much easier.
