Open office is nearly identical to microsoft word of not better, its completely free, and its an open source program so there is no ads or any of that shit. If you happen to be a developer, you can make changes to it as you please. Again, completely free, great resource to anyone who doesnt want to waste money on microsoft office.http://www.openoffice.org/

my moms computer had that a few years ago and it was total shit. i imagine its changed a bit but jesus christ i would rather have typed an essay in notepad than open office.

plus you couldnt open an open office doc in a word doc without it all going to shit.

or, if you do a little bit of a search you can pretty easily find the newest ms office for free. i used to use open office, but it was a pain in the ass to have to resave and possibly reformat so i could send stuff to friends/tas/profs/etc for whatever reason. not sure how much it has changed but i found it also used to be slow as shit. not saying ms office is perfect, or even remotely close to it, but seeing as .doc or .docx is more or less the standard across universities and workplaces, i find it to be worth the effort to do a little hunting for a copy of ms office

I use LibreOffice most of the time as well. Only time I use MS office if i need to make a graph from excel etc. LibreOffice graphing is horrible

Can you open these documents in Office and all the other programs? If the files don't transfer formats it is useless.

ive used it for years. formatting is easy. most of the time i just send as pdf unless it needs to be opened for edit. Ive never had a problem with formatting. Also ive used it on mac and pc and liked it on both. I feel like it isnt valuable any more do to google docs.

I have to use Openoffice.org on my work computer and want to gouge my eyes out anytime I have to open it.

Cool, I guess, that its free, but what can you not get for free nowdays?

says someone who is probably posting using Firefox and using an open source torrent client

inb4 I use Chrome

i was lightly trolling. i really don't like the feel/finish of open office. I use MSO2007 daily (outlook/excel/word primarily) i think it has much better feel and finish than open office.

alsoooooo yes, i use firefox/chrome/ie and even opera on occasion

i spend too much time on a computer.

I dislike Microsoft word, but I like the fact that more than one of the computers I use has it.

For example, my work and uni computer’s dont have microsoft word, so if I was to use OpenOffice on my laptop, it’s not as easy to send stuff back and forward.

Maybe I’ll give it another shot

de brief my last abduction.
