Opening day rituals

I've seen a lot of threads talking about pow day rituals, but how does the morning on opening day at your home mountain usually go?

I usually get up way to dang early, make coffee, blast ACDC, watch my favorite ski edits, meet up with friends and then head up to the mountain.

This is probably the only morning of the year were I get up before my alarm. The stoke level is unreal on opening day, and I'm sure we can all agree on that.

If the stoke factor on opening day is the highest it gets all year, damn, that sucks for you.

Opening day is almost always skiing a couple WRODs. Pretty boring tbh, but good to get out and feel your edges again, flex the skis, and air off some small rollers.

I did this last year /claim

I should try to make this a tradition as well.

I usually watch a ton of ski edits the night before and then wake up early the next morning so I get to the slopes before the crowds start moving in.

I wake up, take a pee, slap some friends on the butt and go have fun.

I ski naked as you can tell from my morning prep.

Head straight to the park, attempt front 2 pretz 2 then realise just because you watch it on an edit doesn't mean you can do and get really sad

Afterbang the whole way down a groomer run. Did this last year and sent some knolls in afterbang showing the snow bunnies whats up.

forgetting how painful falling is and try something stupid and eat shit. gets me every time

nollie before i get on the lift

forget how shitty edges are and feel like Im skidding down boilerplate the whole run

I make sure to listen super intently on how awesome it sounds to click into my bindings again ready to roll

watch every ski edit in my winter folder on youtube, watch all my favorite videos from vimeo, and visit newschoolers till about midnight the night before, wake up at the ass crack of dawn, drive 30 min to the local hill (gunstock), take first run from summit while doing butters and ollies and 180s and such, head over to the hike park for the rest of the day.

Nothing special.. For me opening day isn't usually that great usually only like three runs on lower mountain are open and they are all groomers with grass on them and the park doesn't even open till mid December cause they need snow to build jumps and stuff so yeah....

Get up, freak out because I forgot to mount my new skis, realize I have beater skis that are more suited to early season riding, make breakfast, freak out bc im going to miss the bus, friend now needs a ride to the bus as well, somehow manage to make the bus with friend and not forget anything, arrive and take pass photo, ski perfect corn all day. at least thats how last saturday went.
