Online light next to name

Hope this isnt a repost if it is let it die or get it deleted.

Ok so i was thinking in threads when you look at somebody's name on the left side of it there could be a little green dot or red dot for when they are on or offline.

So that way when your in a thread you can see immediately if that person is currently online.

Little green dot(light) on left side of name means online

Little red dot(light) on left side of name means offline

Thoughts?
 
No its not but its just a thought. So you can see if people are online at a quick glance.

Just to make things easier faster.
 
Suppose you're in the middle of a long thread page... if you click on their name, you lost your spot on that page.
 
Try clicking your scroll button and open up a new tab.

And can we please stop trying to make NS more like Facebook? Please?

For b/s/t just add them as a friend for the time span of your trade/sale and you can see when they're online.

 
when i go back the the last page it puts me where i was

but idk if thats just a mac thing or a firefox thing
 
It's baby steps. Ever since NS came out people have been suggesting changes to NS by what they see on facebook.

I've said this so many times. NS is like no other forum I've ever come across. It's beautiful in it's simplicity. Adding a bunch of bells and whistles isn't going to add anything but clutter.
 
im not on facebook and have never used it.

I just thought that it would be more convenient to see at a glance if somebody is on or not.
 
I agree. While many times there are ridiculous facebook type requests such as NS having friend requests, this is so simple and easy to put into place without it affecting anyone. I love the style of NS alot, there are just tiny little additions that would enhance the efficiency of the site.
 
Ya and i was thinking just like a tiny little light. like more than half the size than baller status. So it wouldnt really be that noticeable.
 
I agree that people have been asking too much to make NS have tons of gizmos like facebook. I agree with Kepler on that. But on the other hand, i really think this is a good idea. It wouldn't have to be anything big, just something small that is simple and tells us if a member is online or not. It could reall be convenient w/o having to click on their profile and whatnot.
 
Seems like unnecessary clutter to me. Just click their name if you want to know that bad if someone is online. And what does it even matter if they are online or not while you are reading a thread?

And also what Kepler said, just make whoever you are dealing with for B/S/T your friend and that way you: A) Know if they are online right away B) can find their profile easily by just clicking your profile and looking at your friends list

Once you are done dealing that person, simply unfriend them and all is well.
 
This is true. I do do this however.

I thought of this because some times i just wonder if somebody (thats not a friend) is on or not and it would just be more convenient to just glance at a little thing then having to click then go back.

I dont like TGR's online light thing though. its to big and looks weird. i was thinking a little tiny like pinhole light. So it really wouldnt clutter.
