I'm sure a lot of newschoolers have heard of the snowboard store One Track Mind, with locations in Vail and Beaver Creek. They probably have other locations, probably scattered around Colorado. Well today, I went in there and saw the 2010 orange/purple Oakley jacket I've been after. Well this jacket was sitting under a sign that read, "Outerwear: 70% Off." I look at the price tag, and its only $79.99 because it was the store's 2010 sample. I take it to the register and proceed to pull out my card when they lady says,"I'm sorry, this jacket is actually $120, it seems to have been mismarked." Now, I'm from California, and in California, if something is mismarked, the store must give it to you for the marked price. Dishonest retailers take advantage of this "mistake" often in a practice called the "bait and switch". There are such "Deceptive Trade Practice" laws in effect in Colorado. I explained to her that this was a deceptive trade practice, but she refused to give it to me for the marked price. After two pleas, she refused, explaining that she was the manager and the owner. I then left, figuring that a dishonest retailer deosn't deserve my business.
So I'm asking Colorado newschoolers to boycott One Track Mind. Most of you might say, "It was an honest mistake, give them a break," however, I know there are shop owners on here that understand the severity of deceptive trade practices.
I wasn't sure if this was qualified for ski gabber, so the mods may do what they like in terms of moving this thread. I just ask you not to delete it.

totally legit move in my mind. they very worst it woulda been for them is zero profit from that mistake (and since it was a sample, they would have still made their dough). if a few bucks is worth loosing a customer, (when in the opposite scenario, they would have gained one who stoked up new ones), theres a good chance there are other issues going on, and id be iffy of them.

Unless the girl was like super new and scared to get fired, she should have just given you the advertised sale price and told her boss what happened.

That being said, I would still at least try to talk to the manager before requesting a boycott on them. Who knows, he might hook you up with that coat for free.
 
sounds like a legitimate reason to get mad. there was a big thing on the news the other night about businesses doing that. it's pretty messed up.
